I love this, and the thing in the back that looks like a cage, reminds me of a time machine in a movie.
Okay ... must be the first to say this:

"I see a red door and I wanted painted black."

Now that the cheesy moment has passed ...

I am really diggin' this shot. The door is just ajar enough to make you wonder what's behind it ... and yet, it's just forboding enough to not have the nerve to look.
Great Stone's song Serrena!
But you gotta look
Red Door is also a nice perfume, but seriously, beautiful shot.
porthole on the left, and that interesting weight on that wire hanging around the door...
Cool, it looks like a counterweight used to keep the door open. I had forgotten about it until you mentioned it!
(1003am) Real interesting.....Motts, what WAS behind that door? I ask because of that massive locking system....There must have been a serious reason to keep THAT door locked....
Motts,
The weight and cable are there to close the door behind whomever goes through it, that is also a very heavy duty latch mechanism.
That door is a fire door. It is suppose to stay shut. If a fire breaks out air flow will be cut off.
wow this place looks so untoucht very nice im glad its not coverd in grafitti or vandalized its well preserved and hopfully has many many more years to stand
Dr Who's abandoned ancient TARDIS ?
That is an ancient fire door. The weight on the chain is ment to keep the door closed incase a fire breaks out. Oddly, the road to my cabin crosses a bridge who's deck is made from fire doors scavenged from a demolished industrial plant.
