Oh...good idea! LoL!
I'm sure it's just malfuctioned or confused...
I wonder what they still control? It's wierd that they would still use a small part of such a huge building that's just rotting away. Hmmmm....Makes you wonder......
It's downright freaky!!
Makes you wonder, if it could still work... Naw... It's alive.. It's the Mangler.
THROW THE SWITCHES YA PUSS! YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE!
LOL!
Incoming, surely.
Motts, was there any other buildings around this power station?
Power was usually left connected for the inputs for power stations after they are brought offline. Power stations require input power when they come back online and when they manage part of the power grid. It was probably just easier for them to leave the input power connected then remove the station from the grid and completely power it down.
I see....
prettttttttty...................................um sorry, bright lights and shiny objects tend to pull me in.
FLIP THE SWITCH! FLIP THE SWITCH!!!
DO IT! DOIT! DO IT!!!!
extraordinary! working ones !!! I am stunned !
Any idea what the markings say?
ohhh it just might still function the way it supposed to. yay! flip some switches! Start it up!
You did say some transformers were still hooked up......Obviously you have "good"
information according to the lights Most likely all tossin a switch would do would be make someplace go dark and someone show up there to find out why
THINK ABOUT THE PEOPLE THAT MADE THERE LIFE FOR YEARS AND YEARS JUST FLIPPING THOSE SWITCHES
That other guy is not me. The other Tom.
well its obviossly still conected to the grid. i dont get it some times i think they leave them conected to the gris in hopes of it burning down... which is quite horrable if u ask me
There's a powerplant in Melbourne (Australia) that's been offline for years - but still some of the control areas are still live. For whatever reason, it does seem common that some power is left routed through inactive power plants. Wonderful photos :)
Imagine you switch the main on/of and the thing starts working!!??
This plant is still managing part of the power grid, these functions have now been moved completely out of the old plant and to a newer building on the same site.
You know, if all the bulbs were replaced, I reckon over half of those lights would come on.
I wouldn't recommend doing that though, looking at the state of that board.
As far as why things still run through the station...the power grids are very complicated and the power route for this area may have had to be rebuilt entirely in order to by pass this station........Since there is no power generation here whats left just comp[letes the circuit to get power out to its distribution points
I would start throwing switches as many as I could in a minute then run like hell. It probably make my day more interesting. Weird how the place still had electricity after all the years.
A certain Huge grid failure comes to mind around August 14, 2002......perhaps a pigeon perched on one of those switches???
its weird how power is still on in that place.
That is freaky...perhaps a ghost? or paranormal energy?
rivet where ydu frdm

rivet where you from
With all these switches and the extent of the control room, this structure must have been something in its heyday-very powerful!
all power statoins are on the grid from the panel it looks like the settings are in srtand by mode i sujest you dont touch any thing wires exposed are more likley to be live and remember a power station is not like house current ther up in to 100's of thousends of volts till they go to the transformer wher it is dropped can you say BBQ?
