Behemoth

Behemoth

Let me express that I have very little knowledge of how power plants operate. I shall stay quiet with the descriptions and forgive me for any errors I make, all help is appreciated!

Let's start in the turbine hall, shall we? Here's one of the four turbines.

Wow...good title for this one, Mr. Motts! I like this one lots!
Y'all may be the first to comment, but I shall be the first to...literally...comment on the photo. What a wonderfully awesome rusted monstrosity this is. The windows are intact, so Andrew couldn't have been here yet!
Goody! New Stuff!

Does this shot remind anybody else of the "Sweat Shop" scene in "The Wiz?" It's so ... industrial. Lovin' it ... as per usual, Mr. Motts.
Okay, I am just flat out astounded once again, as I find myself with several images.
The Sweat Shop from The Wiz
Nine Inch Nails Video
The Mangler- By Stephen King
The NASA Control Room
PBS Videos on Pollution.
I am just amazed once again at Mister Motts and his uncanny ability to conjure these images in all of our minds with places that have been long forgotten.

Hats off Motts.. Now I have to look again for more.
great guts. overwhelmed. how do you do it, sir?
when I scrolled down and saw this picture, I actually jumped back in my seat. It looks so alien.
now this is a great pic! it looks like an iron monster... great angle !!
it looks like a big, scary, metallic dragon... anyone else see it? the two light spots on the nearest tall part are the eyes...
It looks kind of scary to me. At night it probably looks much scarier.
Man i love this, if hell was made of metal it would be full of things like this.
It's the Mainsteam going to the Generator/Turbine.I like Behemoth better.
Just a thing... if the place is from 1915, couldn't be neoclassical. Iron+glass... it will be art decó, or something like this, I think. Just this ^^
This thing is a monster...........................IT SCARES ME!
its a pump the water flows across the ceiling in pipe and and turns turbine as it drops spinning magnets producing electric
great shot ive never seen a turbine like that
Impressive indeed. Good work., Look forward to more..
Yay!!! I love machines! I believe this one is a condensing unit.
Motts I am thinking about looking around. I would like to know if there are any guards that might want to stop me
A strange and curious metal work of art under your trained eye!
Photo from above. Can't disclose where this Eagle river power station is but this place looks awesome even from space. http://img.photobucket...one/PowerStation.jpg
I have operated in a plant that was built in 1904 and most plants from this era spin the turbine with steam power but also use river or lake water as a cooling source for the turbine as well, the same way modern plants use cooling towers or build lakes next to the plant. The plant I worked was just as large and neoclassical in the main turbine as this one .If you like to see it and would be able to travel to the midwest I could help you out .th e plant has been updated and is still operational. However only the equipment has been remodeled the plant looks the same as it did in 1904.
You think that machine is scary? you have to see the Oceanside Landfill in Oceanside Long Island the place is still used as a transfer station but the main incinerator building has been shut down since the 80's eveything inside is collapsing and falling down that place is scary. it look like something out of Nightmare on elm street
That thing looks so "Steam punky"... Love it :D
Westinghouse
Behemoth indeed! The scale of this monsterous piece of iron is truly amazing! For some reason, I also find these types of industrial decay fascinating. I wonder how much "torque" that thing had!
That's the biggest soap dispenser I've ever seen!
