Great Shot! Love the creepy movie feel I get from this one.
Hi Fugue! Lemme guess long time visitor, new commenter?
It looks positively *looming,* like it's just about to jump some poor unwitting soul.
Looks like something out of a 50's horror flick.....Nice shot!!! Where's Dracula....?
I remember an extreamly bad TV movie I watched with my sister when i was ten. It was called "Satan's School for Girls" This almost could have been the building.
Grate shot, it Defiantly has that creepy movie feel.
*agree,s with all the above*
Kewl!
Kind of reminds me of the castle from Rocky Horror Picture Show.

So yeah, a horror movie, of sorts...
Makes me think Dracula is in the inside ready to welcome all of us...
Great shot! The building looks so cold and forbidding.....
Hey, has anyone noticed that Fugue randomly dissapeared after a couple of comments?
Does anybody know how to get in touch with the photographer? I'm writing a book on abandoned asylums and would love his input. Or anyone else's for that matter! email me plumperfect415@aol.com

Awesome pic the building is so beautiful.
It's amazing how it just gazes at the living.
This looks like a great building
Wow! I am visiting these pages again and now with a more focus on the pix, as I was browsing before. This is some major and awesome sites! I love browsing abandoned mental facilities!
I am so glad that the mental asylum my sis was in was more modern, however, it did have reputation of being bad. This pix looks so dreary and makes me think of all those souls that were locked up behind those walls.
awesome photo! keep it up
This picture just brings back memories recently i went at night mind you to walk the basement and many rooms of this hospital-- the morgue and also the labotomy lab it was so cold and erie IT WAS a great and horrifying experience that i probably won't do again well maybe one more time!!!
stunning! i must say that all of these buildings are nut house amazing. seriously.. great shot.
I just discovered this web site and have to say that I am thrilled with your hard work at taking such intrigueing photos. I have always had an interest in mental hospitals and the stories that go along with them. Does anyone know of any "groups" that go to visit these hospitals? I would like to be a part of that. I would be very interested in going through some of them myself just to look. I live in Ledyard, CT less than 10 miles from the old Norwich State Psychiatric Hospital and have always wanted to walk through to see what it looks like inside.
If anyone has any information on how I can get involved with this type of extra ciricular activiy, please feel free to e-mail me at paige.bowman@gmail.com
Thank you for any help you may be able to offer.
Some friends of mine and I took our own little tour through the building during the day time. We had gone back there at night and this picture is a great Imagery as if you were actually there.
im working my way through these sites , so i hope Mr. Motts can answer this, is this picture of the old building built in 1856?
Yes, I believe these are the first two wards closes to administration, which would be the original 1856 structure.
Great work!
As a former employee, I am saddened that this great piece of architecture is falling into demise. You have some great photos and artwork. I love the angel in the corridors. Myself I find it bittersweet, as there was much sadness and suffering behind those walls and in those very corridors.

I love old buildings like this and it saddens me this is no longer standing.
