yes Motts you do, looks really alien, something out of Jacobs Ladder.
btw it isn't me, awyper :-)
Looks like a gurl - albeit one with three arms! Am I right?
It looks like they're cracking their neck.
Mr Motts, I figured it wasnt you, you are taller and have sharper features :)))))
That alien has one big brain!
Perfect!! The underlying theme of insanity is shown in this shot so effectively, bringing human presence once again to the place which once contained it. Anyone reminded of the ghostly patients seen in House on Haunted Hill 1999 version insofar as the fast shaking of the head..?
Paul very good point it dose remind you of House on Haunted Hill, thats cool
got shocked at the first look!!! this is thrilling!!!
this picture scared the crap out of me when i first scrolled down!!!!!!!!! i was like whoa they got a real ghost on film! haha my bad
Something from House on Haunted Hill perhapes. It adds a REALLY nice touch to the entire place.
That's disturbing! When you first look at it its a bit unsettling.
crazy, but interesting all at the same time!!
THATS AWESOME its like a demented manson music video!
This pic lOokZ miNt... :-P
Th3 blured man loOkz cr33pY....!!!
OMG!!! that pic has freaked me out a treat! it took me a good 7 or 8 minutes to pluck up the courage to look at it again.
A bit like house on haunted hill, i watched that film once and will never watch it again.......far too scary
Sianaby I agree with you totally...that movie was scary as hell. The first time I watched it, and saw that head-shaking thing in the basement (through the camera lens), it startled me so bad I screamed out loud! This pic captures the same kinda feeling...<shudder>
Hey, speaking of House on Haunted Hill; anyone know where that place is? Is it a real building? That place was huge.

Link to the original House on Haunted Hill and the remake locations
Thanks Kadee!
Ascend.
yes ... it reminds me of the House on Haunted Hill .
kadee nice link
i hope it is restored , it was a shame to loose such a... interesting building
I nearly jumped out of my seat when I saw this! XD Exilent job
It would be a better pic if you were not in it.
This seriously looks like it should be a promo for a horror/thriller flick. Maybe a movie could be written around it...
Motts, this is really one of the best websites and some of the most interesting photos I've ever seen. Would love to have just a smidge of the talent for catching the life of these places that you do.
i worked on the hill for close to 10 years of course the unknown is very scary until you can understand that half or more were committed for things that we take for granted in the year 2006
I'm watching a segment on Dixmont..Do you really think the spirts a evil or....ones just trying to get out...?

Email me: CamoDontShow416@aol.com
i too watched a special on dixmont, is it true that the doctors really tortured the patients there? if so that is a awful thing to do. my cosin works in an institution for the mentally ill, it also is in an building and she too has heard about doctors doing very bad things to the mentally ill back in the 40's,50's,60's. i find so sad to hear that people were to take care of them and they hurt them instead......
Oh boy! A new batch of readers in the Comments section! :-)
awsome
Reminds me of Tony Shalhoub's head growing back in Men in Black:

"You insensitive prick! Do you have any idea how much that stings? "
wow... just wow.
I like the way you stretch your exposures, Mr. Mott, It brings out the detail..
As well as doing strange things to anyone in the frame.
Oh, yes, about the 'experiments' A lot were early attempts at making new treatments for the insane. A lot were basically wrong, and were misunderstood by laymen, thus hey became 'sadistic' and 'torture'. A lot were wrong, and a lot of people were hurt, but the controls we have now, nor the experiences gained from all of these older therapies, would be around except for this barbaric system of experimentation.
Look at the history of the lobotomy...
ah.
that is not cool.
it seriously is going to give me nightmares tonight.
thanks motts. thanks.
HUH!!!!!!! : )
Is this photographic proof of the "Pirate dance" I've read so much about? Seems rather spastic to me if so =P
Who the heck is that?.......WHAT the heck is that?!!!! Omg, i jumped when i saw this picture. It took me like 10 minutes just to be able to scroll back up(ok, you caught me,i closed my eyes on my way bakc up but do you blame me????!!!!)
wow. when this image popped up on my screen it scared the shit outta me. it looks like the horrific "fast-head" effect used frequently in jacob's ladder
It makes me think of someone going crazy in there!
the first split second this pic came up, i had a small shock go through me, WOw
I realize I am just repeating what has already been said, but the blur of the picture really does make the person look like an alien! Nice.
(And all of us who have seen your "cupids demise" gallery, know that you are in fact great at portraits, Motts!)
Just happen to run accross this site.. the picture is very strange... to the right of the head area there's a face. STRANGE
Good shot!! It looks like something from a horror movie!
