It's funny, the walls don't look fire-damaged (blackened and missing plaster, as is the norm with burned-out buildings). If I didn't know different I'd say this looks as though it has just caved in through neglect.
Rain and snow eventually washes away fire stains.
The fire that had caused this damage was on the rd and forth floor, it all caved in.
The fire happened in the mid 90's
There was definately a fire in that area from what I saw yesterday. If you look up at the damage before you walk in the front door, you will see a heavy wooden crossbeam is about the only remaining structure in that area, and it looks like it was pulled out of a campfire---all cracked and charred.
there was just a fire i think in the boiler room the other day!
If there was a fire there, it had to be another firebug trying to start a fire. I don't know why people seem to keep trying to burn the building down, but it's so empty there really isn't much left to burn so the fire won't get very big anyway.
It seems as if y'all have an arsonist loose in the area. Hope the cops catch him before he graduates to occupied structures :-\
Accually Im a firemen in emswroth and we have been doing aout job and have found out its a few different ppl trying to prove a point and they also have been destroying the workers equipment
Oh Very Sinister
What was the cause of the fire? How long after the closing of dixmont did it happen? Am I totally clueless about dixmont?
I live near a historic place Donner-Reed Party Trail, one of the wooden cabins they stayed in, in 1886 some kids out parting burned down the cabin.People who do this there wicked.
Mr Motts, were u in a reclining position when u snapped this??? Looks like it.
Its sad what gets burned by arsons. Another case of arson was "The Dips" rollercoaster at West View Park
Wow!!!! That is a cool picture... I wish it was still around
Well...it certainly is airy isn't it now?
the first time i was there i walked right through there and didn't notice that until i was outside the building and said "i'm glad we didn't walk through that part, oh, wait..."
oof! Makes my stomach chern a little bit. Avast it's pretty epic.
