It almost makes it look like the rooms are 'waiting' for something.
wow, alot of room, imagine when this was full of staff and residents, geri chairs, wheelchairs. wall to wall activity.
Are all those doors missing or just open.
I don't see any doors, and the hinges suggest they've been removed for scrap - perhaps they were metal. More intriguing is that electrical trunking running along the top of the wall and down above each door. Private rooms with nurse call buttons perhaps? Lynne? :-)
Maybe there was a light at the end of each of those lines running down above each door for that purpose....?
This is how the world ends,

this is how the world ends,

this is how the world ends,

Not in a bang, but a whimper.
Yes, call buttons - lights that light up when you hit your call button so you don't disturb everyone else if they are sleeping. I have them in my office, just like all the other offices in our building, but they haven't been used in years and years.
Although sometimes the call buttons were used for staff to notify other staff if they needed assistance.
Most of the doors on the patchiest rooms were or are wood. On some of the floors all the doors are missing and on others they are open.
They are massive, these halls, you could get three or four beds alongside one another! And I'd love those floors in my house (someone 'modernised' it by removing all the Victorian boards and replacing them with chipboard... grrrrr!
Actually, I think those lines are water lines from the sprinkler system that was added. Probably a sprinkler head in each room like modern hospitals and hotels.
kinda creepy :-/
The hollow men, how appropriate Ron
The first room looks like it has a huge map on the wall.
I've heard a lot of creepy things about this place, like how the staff used to do evil experiments on the patients... I'd really love to hear more info about this...
I bet some datardly deeds went on behind those doors. It's just mans inhumanity to his fellow human. U sure do bring up thoughts, Mr Motts!!!
these halls are so wide
i agree big l
