To me the lack of windows seems symbolic and marks the difference between a living building and the corpse which this one appears from a distance. It's as though her soul has fled; she has given up all her secrets and now merely awaits the final indignity with eyes that no longer see...
Rch, I couldn't have put it better... "eyses that no longer see"... I was looking at the empty window shots, and thought about how empty the eyes were, but the words didn't come up.
Rich, powerful words, and well said
Very well said.
The stone work on the windows is unbelievable.
*NODS HEAD TO ALL*
NICE, RICH.
Think about it. You're leaning out of a window to take a picture of a window.
Ron, you think of the most off-the-wall stuff. You fit right in around here.
Rich that was beautifully put. Well done, son!
Beautiful details. Such a waste to tear it down. One more reason to boycott Walmart.
Thanks all. I was feeling particularly poetic the other night, happens occasionally ;-). And Neefer, do you *really* need another reason to boycott Wal-Mart?
every one needs another reason to boycott wal mart
i really dont like how they're going to tear this down. too bad i dont have more money than walmart.
The kirkbride is gone...demolition completed last month.
Damn...that sucks
that is realy pretty brick and arkitexture but i wouldnt want to live there or vist maybe during the day but not at night!
Then we've got some pretty good news for you . . .
arkitexture ??? wtf?
Wordology!

Arkitexture. I like that, it's all style.
Eyes that shall look upon the world no more. Blinded foever, never to see the light of day again.
Maybe those windows still had glass, that is until the fire. Look at the charring on the wall around the window.
I remember being able to look out with the warden as he kindly pointed out to me the building called Western penitentiary, which sat in the middle of the River about 15 miles away. I was warned that that was where I was headed if I didn't stop smoking pot....Well, I did finally quit, about 15 years after my release....lol I was 17 when I was there, and no one was forcing me to do anything I didn't want to do, at least that was my attitude.....lol
