Clawed

Clawed

I stepped into the seclusion room with the door shut to feel what it was like inside, as I normally do, and I noticed many scratches in the wall next to the door, all within a person's reach.

Of course it could've been kids, or for some movie filmed there, but you never know... I find remnants of former patients fascinating for some reason.

well if they are left over from a patient, that is too sad. kinda eerie.
ditto Mr. Motts, so do I. Im always finding things from former residents of my facility.
The place itself gives a sense of fear. But when you find something from a patient it brings a true sense of sorrow for their suffering. A understanding for their pain.....
My bet is those scratches were made by the poor souls that were locked in there at the time and it was their only way of showing their anxiety and fear.
The elevator where I work has the exact same same scratches, and there hasn't been anyone but staff in my building for years, and the elevator has been repainted many times. Don't get too excited interpreting these things.

Although I will admit that I work with an odd bunch. ;-)
Gawd, Motts, I just reread your last comment above. Looks like you are hunting for old body parts! =8-o

"I find remnants of former patients fascinating for some reason."
Hey, an arm or a finger or two would be an interesting find too... ;)
To me, the rooms with the "remnants of former patients" is also fascinating. It tells me "this is who were are, this is our building, please don't forget us!"
Except the fact they might not be so polite about it.
It's no wonder why there are claw marks by the door. Many who were put in those rooms did not leave them until they were released or dead.
Em . . . You mean they were put in seclusion rooms and never ever ever let out until their release papers came or they died? =8-o
Bet that was a smell.
shows how much people don t know about siderooms . yu have 15 min. checks . also lots of patients like being in . peace and the saftey of not being around other patients. and yes they are given prns if they will take them
Mr Motts, re ur comment above. Great!!!!!! Just never know what treasures U might find : )
Omg, this makes me hurt inside...
thats too sad. i bet it was from patients..poor things were prolly left there for hours to rot
I bet it was from patients as well...either way, it's a very powerful photo
It's amazing to wonder what went through these patients' minds...if the scratches are indeed from patients, they may have been relieving their fear or anxiety, or as mentioned above, hoping that someday someone might go there and remember them..
Suck to be in there
I was put in that room in 1974. Was there for approx. one week. Pissy matresss o the floor to sleep on. No blankets. Bars or screen on the backside where the snow blew into the room. It was never quiet in this place. Always someone screaming, moaning, and of course talking to themselves. It was a nightmare I will never ever forget. I stayed at this institution for almost a year before I turned 18 and was released. I was placed there for admittig to smoking pot, and vowing not to quit. LOL Some of the doctors and nurses there were the most evil of people too. Some stories I could tell....
Sorry but your story sounds like bullshit to me. You ARE not put into an psych hospital for smoking pot. Unless you had some other kind of issues. Also you don't get sent to a quiet room for admitting you smoked. So again I call BULLSHIT on your "tale". Take it from an ACTUAL former patient from Southern Cali. I have bipolar 2 disorder w/psycotic tendenies and would sometimes be escorted to the quiet room, ie a "padded" room where I could calm down. No doubt some of the staff in these places were pricks and the mothaf!%kas needed a couple of caps popped in their mothaf!%^in' asses.
Geez, why is everyone so angry? XD
