Dining Room

Dining Room

All the chairs were still here, piled up on the tables, completely untouched.

I think it is so sad to see this hotel looking like it just closed one night with everything intact.
This is like out of an explorer's dream...coming across this with all the chairs perfectly stacked and untouched like it was abandoned yesterday.

In fact I did have a dream about this place once...but I was someplace else that was near it and I wanted to find it, but I only found some sheds and the pool...*blush* I know I have no life...
I remember every night of the week had a theme for dinner. Wednesday was always "New Year's Eve" complete with a balloon drop. I also remember that when you ordered the chicken the servers would always inquire "top or bottom" (white or dark meat). Always got a little chuckle out of that.
I think it's amazing how this place is completely untouched. So far, i didn't see one smashed window or any graffiti. It makes me feel all warm inside =)
Smith...Smith.... Your table for 4 is ready!
why would they stack the chairs? no locals interested in going in there?
I remember eating in this dining room in the mid 1980s. Kosher all the way....love it or leave it! You couldn't beat the price though....my wife and I stayed for two nights, all meals included for about $90 total.
The reason why it was not trashed I think like many other places is because of where it is and how it it situated ..

sage
Put this dining room in my condo, looks cooler than mine now since I like the 80s retro designs
Who takes care of all the artifacts in these rooms? Don't they belong to SOMEBODY?
Just unstack the chairs and its ready for The Fish and Goose Suaree.
"Grady?"

"Delbert Grady?"
This room looks like people still drink there today. Any idea why this place was shut down?
The borscht belt resorts closed for many reasons, Failure to upgrade, Over zealous upgrades, The owners descendents not wanting to continue in the buisness. Jewish resorts fading away as the cultures blended and old predjudices died out. Cheaper vacations farther away, The list goes on and on
why cant they use those chairs and tables for some place else why do they have to go to waste?
They have to go to waste since they do everything to keep everyone out of there
I don't understand why so much gets left behind. It's like they evacuated in an emergency and just never came back.

It's weird!
If I hadn't seen the lobby, I woulkd swear that building is being used. It's like Sunday morning. No one's home...
wow, simple as.
One of the main reasons the Catskills resorts faded was that they spent the '80s and '90s not upgrading under the assumption that eventually New York State would legalize casino gambling. Once there was gambling, they would sell to big casino companies, or upgrade in place, or raze and upgrade.

It was a gamble that didn't pay off.
These shots remind me of the Titanic.
its like people put the chairs up as if they were coming back the next day .. but they never returned...creepy
Kind of what PlantMonster said, about the Lobby. If I hadn't of seen it, or the photos of the kitchen, I would swear I'd see the Breakfast Club running around...running away from Mr. Vernon!
i want one of those tables !
Thats freaky... Like they knew it was gonne be in this state one day and were preparing for it :/
How sad. It is always so upsetting to me to see things left behind in these places, like everyone just walked out and will be back. Eerie.
strange,i would think it would have been taken by now
just came back from there...chairs suspended in the walls (either from being thrown or smashed into them), not one table remains upright, all glass shatterd and grafitti on everything...such a shame!
whoever wanted to take anything should have
nice chair!
excuse me i will be back with the pick up truck
