Looks like heaven is trying to get thru the clouds to save this place.....
Or, all the souls who stayed behind, are finally going home....
Nature has done a pretty good job of reclaiming it - I doubt there were 30-foot trees peeping above the walls when it was in use!
Beautiful sunbeams
And a beautiful building, which will finally be at peace very soon, returned to dust, her work all done. Those rays look as though they're calling Dixmont and the ghosts of all who resided here back home...
Yes, time, mother nature, and fire have done a number on the back side of the main entrance. Very sad.
GOSH.....
I'm with Tony C ., beautiful....going home....
Motts I LOVE this shot! The rays made me think of heaven right away too.
walmart..geez.
The comments made are so deep and true. I couldn't have described it better myself.
The pictures are so good you can feel the spirit in them.
Man, these pictures are really making me miss this place :(
Looks lonely. empty.and a neat place to go see,
i think that if wal mart ever does get built .........there will be some mighty strange things happening in side there on a daily basis A LOT OF TORMENTED SOULS ARE STILL THERE R.I.P.
Mr Motts, you've outdone yourself here. If I were gona give this pic a title, I'd title it "THE RAPTURE" Awsome
fuckin walmart canned their plans here. They wrecked down a beautiful building for nothing!
You know, they tore this beuttiful(meaning looking wise) building down to build another Wal-Mart of which we have over 1000 of. We only had one Dixmont and now we will never get it back! ; ( True, many bad memories happened here but it was still a historical landmark. And now they aren't even going to build stupid Wal-Mart! (Poor, unloved souls)
The burned ruins are creepy yet cool. It reminds me of a old mill in my town =3
Empty eyes looking out on a cold world...amazing photos Mr Mott
Does anyone know what becomes of the brick when these places are torn down? Is it sold to be used to build other buildings? I love old brick work, and whenever I see these huge brick buildings torn down, I always have wondered where the bricks end up.
I have a recovered Dixmont brick in my room! Most of the time bricks and blocks from demo'd buildings are sold as clean fill for contractors leveling land.
wow, what an amazing looking place...
