way creepy, i love it !!!
A good "Night of the Living Dead" type shot - very nice.
Great curves and angles!
I agree...cool shot. You don't know from which door, or window the hand is going to shoot out from, and GRAB YOU...
Grab who!?!
LOL!! That window on the right....like Dawn of the Dead....you get too close...and a hand breaks through the windw, and.....
AAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!

Damn, You scared, me!
**Smacks Tony C. in the shoulder**
The're really going overbored with this Dawn of the Dead crap. They have Dawn of the Dead, Land of the Dead, Night of the Living Dead, Shaun of the Dead, House of a Thousand Corpses, 28 Days Later- all with basically the same content. Most of them are pretty good the first time but they get old after a while.
Although, I thought the Resident Evils weren't bad.
That modern Exit sign just doesn't quite fit in, making this picture evn more haunted.
I wonder if thats u in the window or a ghost
-lol-
Motts, when you were in this building, did you feel anyone watching you? I know I did.
I know security was watching ;-)
when i went up there i felt like somone was watching me. i was kinda dumb...didnt realize how much it was watched by security. walked around for a good 15 minutes taking pics before i got caught. security was cool and let me go. i was really surprised when they yelled to me as it was so quiet up there...it scrared the crap out of me! i went up there for the tours too and got some cool pics. i found it to be peaceful up there but in a wierd sort of way. on the tour my friend and i were walking towards one of the buildings to get a closer view and when we got really close there was huge noise that came from one of the boards over the windows. we both jumped back really quickly. it could have been an animal or something but it was kinda wierd. its so pretty up there. i really wish i could have gone inside...the pics here are amazing. you did a great job. brad would love to talk to you about your experience here. does your brother ever talk about it? how long was he there for? my grandmother worked here as a student nurse like 60 years ago. she said it was really scary and that she will never forget the sound of the keys for all of the doors. love this site:) hope to see much more.
I think it was rude posting a phone # to prank call. Take it somewhere else.
I FREAKIN HATE AVALON BAY OUR FRIGGIN' GOVERMENT SUCKS THEY SHOULD PROTECT THE WHOLE BUILDING NOT JUST THE KIRKBRIDE WHICH IS GREAT THAT THEY'RE SAVING THAT BUT WHAT THE HELL THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE SOLD DANVERS STATE HOSPITAL
Is it me or does it look like some one s in the window to the right of the pic?
Hoemahgawd it does!!!

Im quite scared now =/
these walls look blistered,as if they are weeping.i couldnt live in an apartment built over this place!its gotta house some sort of f*****up soul echo, right?
There is definitely someone looking out of that window -- a woman wearing a white dress
Uhhhhh MOTTS???, Janice is right, there is someone in that window, it may not be a women but its there, look at the first window pane, can you tell us wat that is??? it cant be you, can it? just take the picture and look really close... Nice eyes Janice
It could be a reflection of me or someone nearby since the windows are boarded up.
Excellent farewell photography! This is a fascinating subject on many levels; historically valuable and emotionally charging with its documented beginnings of good intentions and practices towards the care of the mentally ill - to the later mismanagement which led to the types of negative patient treatments which almost entirely deviated from their original philosophy of less restrictive and better care for the mentally ill. The demolition of this building has been a great tragedy because the building, regardless of it's history, was an architectural marvel. Oh, and I did notice the eerie image/reflection in the window. It sure does look mysterious and worthy of further investigation. Perhaps the original should be closer examined? Peace to all.
The more I view this web-site, the more I wish I could have gone through these rooms, hallways, and buildings; before they are no longer there. So, Motts, did you take all these pictures and you KNEW security was watching?
does that look like someone looking through the bars of that window let me know if ne1 else can see it
aye. it does look like a little girl standing there holding a railing?
ok i must be missing something i dont see any windows
ana look to the right
Yo, mate, that so does not look like a reflection. I seen peopl keep talking about it on your comments. But, mate, I'd say you catptured somthing there. That is sooo not a refleection cause it doesn't even look like there somekind of glass, plus the room looks dark and lightless. It sooo is someone.
amazing angle
if you really examine the photo it looks to be broken and dirty glass.
it does Lisa
thats no shadow, you got sumthin there mots, wow have you had someone look at it? wow i knew you would get summik, the place is filled with lost souls.
Excellent photo. Bravo Motts. Seems kinda cruel though to have an exit sign knowing those poor lost souls can't leave.
Is there actually glass in that window because you can see a body standing in the window and if it is just a reflection that is way creepy looking. it doesnt look like just a reflection
Guys, hate to burst your bubbles but it's not a reflection, shadow, ghost, person, etc. It's just light that's coming in from behind the camera. If you look below the window, all the way to the right you can see a vertical line of light (with a few nicks)... this line simply continues into the window, which gives the illusion of the "person" you're seeing.
i'm not into ghosts and all of that rott but, there does appear to be someone standing there with their hands up on the bars peering back at you.... i had to look twice to be sure it was a trick of the shadows.
The rounded corners intrigue me. I've seen it in other Kirks and wonder if it's part of the plan.
