not even scary
It's a water tower, dummy. Who said it was supposed to be scary?
Uh mark this is an abandoned places exploration site not a horror site. Some of the pics on here are eerie true but that isn't what this site is about.
nice picture, with the clouds in the backgroud, and looking up at the tower. black and white is great fot this picture.

it will be friggin' weird driving by danvers state on the highway and not seeing the spires or the water tower when avalon bay starts the demolision.
such a shame they r tearing it down and only keeping some of the original kirkbride building! if restored i am sure it would be beautiful! actually it was beautitul. i have seen pics of the place before it got all destroyed and old
I worked there for two years in the Housekeeping and Kitchen department. I had the master keys I got from a guy in Security, to all the "tunnels" and got into wards that almost no one could go into. Patients records from the 1860's still in boxes, totally creepy. Now some wrecking ball is going to ruin all that Danvers brick (all bricks made right in Danversport and hauled by horses). The watertower was shown a few times in the movie "Session 9" hey rent that movie it shows the kitchen where I used to work.
Is the water towers sister still in place across the valley at the site of the TB hospital? Did you go in thr tunnels? Rumor was the tunnel went across to the TB hospital and there was a bomb shelter in the valley between the two. I have been in the TB tunnels but didnt go far down them. Do you remember the TB hospital? They tore it down in the early 70's
Great place... Its a shame they would ruin something so eery and beautiful.

Stick to the Black & Whites
Most things especially old biuldings like this seem to stand out more in black in white. Almost like your experiencing it as a historical place and sometimes when you see it in color, it tends to take away that feeling. You just seem to see a brick building, and not a place captured in time, if that makes sense....
I can still see the water tower from my work in Salem , can't see the top's of the building's any more.
Hey drBob -- regarding Session 9 -- did you have to scrub those big pots?? How did you do it?
Notice the antenna's on the tower. Before they shut it down in '92,, it was used as a radio tower.
There are many hospitals like Danvers that are being demolished. The land is worth alot of money to developers. Some of the land at McLEANS hospital is being used to build condo's.For those who do not know McLEANS.It is located in Belmont Ma.The hospital is still in operation treating people and involved with alot of research projects.
Okay first off THANK YOU. :) i've been looking for photos of this water tower on the net and this is perfect! :) im trying to do a 3d model of Danver in SecondLife to try and keep the memory alive ^-^ wish me luck.
The tower was the abosulutely last piece of demolition. It only was taken down in March.
Looks like he same water tower thats at my work. I work at a hospital that was opened in 1905, maby the same company made this one to.
I went up there today and they still have the wooden stairs
I work for a Sprint-Nextel contractor, I have spent many hours on this site on maintenance and upgrades of cellular base station equipment, while the grounds are dead, the water tower is very actively moniored and has active equipment for 3 different cellular carriers, the state's 800MHz public safety radio network, and the Feds. I would advise steering clear of this area, it is montiored on both video surveilance and the po-po will come a running fast if anything trips. Other than that, this is an eerie place, I've worked many near abandoned properties that house active cell sites and this one is the creepiest I was ever in.
