I quite agree with you. ;)

I don't know if it was the stress of your trip that day or the fact that the skies were very overcast, but the majority of this gallery is much more dark, brooding and unsettling. It doesn't have your usual style. I really like this new aspect of your photography.
I think its mainly the grey and overcast skies that give it that feeling Grace.
Well, usually he uses his flash, or the flashlights differently. (I'm talking about the interior shots.) I do enjoy the external shots with the overcast skies. But the internal shots have changed. Either way, I like the change.
perfect title for this pic
Beautiful and serene, and all that green shows so much life is still there.
I think the grey sky just adds to the feeling of forboding. I like grey skies, they fit my mood. I'm not saying I'm a gloomy person because I'm not. I just like them.
ill second the grey skies, very calming. Absolutely beautiful shot
A kindred spirit. How appriciative! :-)
So it appears that Danvers is now doomed. That is heartbreaking....HOUSING. What a load of B.S. There is no where else that they can build...there's no where else that people can live. Motts, thank you for introducing us to these hauntingly lovely buildings. Farewell, beautiful one.
Twug , i agree it is bull shit, the building is extremley beautiful
Sad.....too sad. These buildings are so beutiful, and they want to put up crappy-looking boxes with windows. what a crime.....
maybe it is so gloomy because the institution itself feels threatened by what is in store for it, and it moans for what it once was in bygone years. Whatever, the photo shots matches what Danvers must be thinking if it had been human...sorta like a death sentence. Sad.
I find it amazing how the government can have something so amazing in architecture and an amazing art piece in itself, and allow it to deteriorate to such a $h!tty condition
Stfu firefighter. It worth more how it is now, then if some political **** turned it into a museum.
its so cool it makes me want to go so bad right now omg
That Shot is just BREATHTAKING
i cant believe how huge this place is. if u close your eyes u can see dr. and nurses pushing some of the poor patients around in their wheelchairs. so sad hate to see it go.
i can see patients wondeing around here lost in the saddness of time. i think about there familys and how they felt. they may have differant feelings about this place. they are prolly all gone now.
Such an amazing structure. Too bad it had to get destroyed. But I will never forget this building.
Looks so sppoky up on the hill when you drive by it on 95... the water tower and the coupelas...

..and the crane : (
If it looks this good now (boarded up) it must have been absolutely beautiful back in the day...with all the farm land and farm animals. Nice shot
It doesn't look good any more, kfb, it's all been torn down. Sadly, Alas. Amen.
what a sin!
it truly is a beautiful building was .i was across the road from it today the water tower still stands.
I walked through the cemetery and saw this girl she was cloudy and she had a mental problem and she was just roming around the cemetery trying to find somthing
You sure it wasn't just a mirror you were looking at?
OMG CAS I just died!
This is a beautiful shot of the building. I love the trees; it makes for a very peaceful-looking picture.
yha well you think that know until you get inside
CAS I know when I see a mirror and do U think there is a mirrir in the middle of the garveyard
PS I am a fashionesta
Is a "fashionesta" a female fascist who wears nice clothes? Sorry, I am regrettably unfamiliar with the term.
no it means that a female wears clothes that are in style and can match very well they can also say well that doesn't match or you can't wear patterns with patterns.
Hmm... sounds like a really annoying mental disability. Good luck with it!
No n NO NO NO its not a mental disability. Lynne wanted to know what it ment. GET IT
Yeah I got it... I was making fun of you... GET IT
yeaH I don't think I am dumb GET IT

iI KNOW IT TO GET IT
did i just read that motts pictures changed after this one, its the place it has a way? does any one get me?mott did your mood change while taking the pictures ? which are still fab by the way they just seem to be sadder as you get further into them, its like the place knows what the future hold for it!!!!
it is so boring up there now. it used to be exciting and erie to be up on that hill.
3 years later . i still miss this place.
On one more note, there's a possible relative of mine that dates way back from the turn of the century that is buried in the old Danvers State Hospital cemetery...may God rest her soul as well.
It does look eerie back here...I remember the strange silence of this massive structure, the vacant windows staring out like a lost soul. One can feel the saddness of its former occupants.
