DANG, that oughta be in a museum! >:-(
have you seen the movie session 9? thats what this website reminds me of.
Great find! Is it just me, or does this doorway seem really narrow?
seriuosly am i the only one thats seen Session 9?
No, Ron, I have seen it also. Stupidly I will ask you if you knew it was filmed at danvers? You probly know that, but maybe other visitors to this sight do not and maybe they will be inspired to rent it.
I have seen session 9 before also... I had no idea it was filmed at Danvers. I am going to have to go back and watch it again.
Shamefully, Session 9 was what made me known to Danvers, but I've always had a liking to the histories behind old hospitals and the like. Motts just totally makes the visual appeal.
i saw session 9, pretty good flick, im going to rent it again, since its been awhile since ive seen it
i didn't know it was filmed at danvers till now. thanks richard.
Your welcome, Ron
motts, you have done it again
I feel like the only one who hasn't seen session 9. Gonna try and get it tomorrow..
You're not alone, I haven't seen Session 9 either!

I remember One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest though... nasty stuff, and probably the origin of much of the continuing interest in psychiatric facilities.

Remember... it's Hollywood!
session 9 is a great movie, thats how I heard of Danvers,,,Mott, you are crazy for going in there, but in a good way of course.....
Girl Interuppted, is another good film to see what these places once looked like
ya thats an awsome pic.
w/e
That isnt a strecher, that would be an old bed from one of the fallout shelters that patients would have to sleep on in case of emergency.
It would have been tough to use as a stretcher without handles. I think Verizoff is correct.
I finally rented session 9 and watched it last night after the kids went to sleep. Average movie, but interesting because of the location.

I had just finished it and gone to bed, thinking about "Mary" when my youngest child started SCREAMING and continued to scream for what seemed like an awfully long time. Any of you out there who have ever experienced night terrors will understand how fast my heart was racing. For those who haven't, a night terror is when a child, after falling asleep, starts screaming and appears terrified by something only they can see. They can't be comforted because they remain mentally inaccessible. They seem awake but they aren't. Luckily they don't seem to have any recollection of the incident when they wake up ( unlike me! ).
The timing of it completely freaked me out, so soon on the heels of Session 9.
Yikes! I hope it doesn't happen again. Had trouble sleeping myself after that
yeah i've seen session 9 and i didn't know it was filmed at this place. Its a creepy movie but didn't like it tho. its just too cheesy... sorry if everyone else likes it on this page...
Actually it was my one time use trampoline . PHANTOMS OF DANVERS
jai? from vegas? i showed you that movie.

this is a great photo.
and so it lies there.
That looks like what they use to airlift someone by helicopter in an emergency.
great job on getting these photos awesome job
wow i cant bileve that many people dident know it was film at danvers :) and it was a very good movie one of my favorites.
Motts... what was this thing used for?

PS. I live in Italy, and near my house there's a giant Military Hospital built by Maria Teresa of Austria and closed between the two world wars, I think... You'd like it so, so much!
ive watched session 9 and i have to say, it is one of the most boring, UNscary films i have ever seen

but i must admit, the bit that tells you about danver was interesting
Iav been trying to see that movie ever since i read it on here, but i can't find it, not even in my citys public libreary
Hi David -- you can probably rent it at your local video store -- I rented and then I bought it on Amazon -- I love Danvers so much and I am so unhappy about its demise.
That stretcher probably served as an impromptu cot for some sleepy 11 to 7 worker
It wouldn't need handles to be a stretcher, the fabric part is "stitched" to the frame, the whole frame would be handles.

p.s. I am new here and addicted to this site, the pics are fab and I am getting to know the people, you are fab too!
great job motts what kind of light did you use to get these pics? how long were u in there ? were u alone?
acuteward- Adults can have night terrors too. I've had them several times in my adult life: I would wake up yelling in absolute panic, so terrified I would jump out of bed and run around my apartment, trying to get away from some vague, unidentified horror. My heart would be pounding so hard and fast that I bet people with weak hearts could actually die during night terrors. The whole thing was very hard to shake off; you felt wide awake, yet you would continue to feel terrified, even though you had no idea of what it was you were so scared of. If you wake up during a dream or nightmare, only then do you remember it. And when I'd wake up out of a night terror. I'd remember nothing; it was simply an intense, mysterious fear, not an actual nightmare. Strange. It's even worse when you're a child because it feels so real and it's so difficult to snap out of.
ewwww. i would hate to be carried away on that...lolz
acuteward and isabeats - I occasionally have a similar situation. I don't wake up and run around screaming though. What happens to me is I know I am sleeping and I am trying to wake up. The odd part is it's as if I can see the room around me, but I can't move. And the scary part is there is a terror associated with it that I can't explain. I am just glad it only happens to me once every 2 - 3 months.
Rented Session 9 just because it was about this lovely place..wish they had used the alternate ending though...
FYI Want to impress me I haven't seen session 9.
The "stretcher" looks like the Stokes Basket we use in firefighting and rescues. Maybe an early version? Session 9 great. My cousin worked on the landscape architecture at the new development there. Around the time of the last fire. Said creepy stuff happened all the time.
what kind of creepy things???
ARGH Cant find Seesion 9 anywhere!!!!
The Mr recommended it and it seems to not exist here in the UK, anyone got ideas.. or wanna send me a copy? :P
x
it was session 9 that brought me to danvers also, now i have an obsession, i look at photos and read stuff about it all the time. Danvers has a presence that draws you to it, and once you look at it you can never forget about it, its there in your head and stays with you for the rest of your days.
its a very haunting place, i have session 9 and i bought it in asda for funny enough £9, ha £9 just realised that, ewww now i've spooked myself!!!!!!!!!
fanatstic pictures by the way, thanks for sharing them!!! xjx
looks like blood smears still embed although it is ancient
its so creepy looking at staring at it almost puts you in another world thinking about what happened. its weird.
i always visited this site, i love it.
now i have found you at deviantart.
your work is impressive.
This is called a stokes basket. It's used for emergency evacuation of a victim and used a lot in helicopter rescues.
Looks like the fastening ropes have naturally broken from dry-rot, but the canvass is still intact. I thought that the ropes were not intentionally broken because the canvass is in the place it would be if it just fell from the frame.
Tardy to the party, but I just want to point out the stains on the stokes basket. Looks like it could have been a rather traumatic injury to the last patient. Or not, But it is a mighty stain.
