i love this shot, the flash reflecting off the door makes it look like there is a man in a doctors mask in the window :-O
Very moody - swell colors - great lighting!
This looks like the doorway to some bizarre fantasy world that most people would probably *not* want to enter...
Are the wide radius corners found in all Kirkbride buildings or are the unique to Danvers?
I've seen them in many Kirkbride buildings, I'm not sure if they are a standard form of their construction though.
Great colour, and the bright lit door beckons....
Love the color, this is a very cool picture!
I wonder why there are two flat (whatch-ya-ma-call-its?)Brass hand panels, to push the door open....One is very low. (for very short people?) I can see if thats to prevent a wheelchair from scratching the door, but the wood border is more likely to get hit before that....????....I just thought it looked a bit odd there...
Wheelchairs, and so that you can push it open with your foot, if your arms are..full.
i get the feeling that is the doorway to certain doom
A feeling of certain doom? Surely "Certain Doom" would inspire more than a FEELING?

I mean, if I even HEAR a creak in my house at night, i go into "fight or flight" mode.

Put it this way, if I see doom looking a bunny rabbit, does that make me insane?
If I HEAR a creak in my house at night, I grab my .45 ;-)
Tony C., It is lower for those nights when you are crawling home wasted. (hehe)
Thomas Covenant, I think Runny Babbits have very sharp nasty teeth, and the one from Monty Phython is really deadly, is it not?
"BRING FORTH THE HOLY HAND GRENADE!!!"

(Followed by a couple of Corona's....)
Wink, Wink, Nudge, Nudge!

Say no more.
Thomas Covenant
You must be a real pussy if you are scared of household creaks. And yes, you may well be insane.
acuteward, Mr. C might not read your comment. He seems to have departed this area.
Twug
Glad to hear it : )
Much more pleasant without him
Actually, acuteward, I think he may be back. I spoke too soon.....8 (
NNNNNOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Aarrrggghhhh!!! How claustrophobic is this image!! I would literally be shaking in my boots if i went anywhere near that horrid door! How about some pictures of old toilets to truely scare the poo outa me!!!???
I like the color of the door and the way the light reflects off it.
very nice pic! and yes it does look like the reflection of a doc with a mask in the window. i got turned on to this site cuz of watching the movie session 9
Unreal picture, I too am addicted after watching the movie session 9, what a beautiful place.
looks like the begining....or end, to a scary movie.
The lighting, the peeling paint, the mood: An unbelievable photo...
I just got done watching Session 9. Wow what a building! its sad they are tearing it all down. What a pretty place.
I WENT TO HIGH SCHOOL BEHIND THIS BUILDING, WE UED TO SNEEK UP THERE AND SNOOP AROUND. THE BUILDING IS AS SCARY AS ANYTHING YOU HAVE EVER SEEN!!
omg Alana I can't belive that seriously.
Wouldn't you get caught
People, people, people really annoy me.
This must be Ann Hanslin's room
beautiful, scary, sad, age, etc this picture can say 1000 words.
glen dale hospital, is haunted.
never go there, you'll end up killing yourself over the discoveries you will find.
Motts, you are the master of light and shadow. Always wish I could've gone up and seen it myself, but your pics do it justice; heavy on the atmosphere.
Well, I USED to like that color...

Humm...not so much now lol. Something about how that door swings in ... odd.
They used different colors so people would not go insane with white walls. You would feel things closing in on you and eventully end up insane....although some were, others were not
When a person loses his or her freedom it does strange things to them. How lonely it must have been when the door closed behind them...
