Cotton Candy

Cotton Candy

A strange thing to find in a prison...

I usually don't like selective coloring, but everything else was so ugly... I tried to spruce it up a little.

freaky.
Totally bizarre.

Em, that disgusting stuff sitting on the cart actually looks like decrepit cotton candy. Is it?
it sure does lynne. Or some massive hair balls, either way, ewwwwwwwwwwwwww
Motts, I think that selective colouring was the perfect idea for this shot. It's really quite...I don't know. I like it, a lot.
Cotton candy... of DESPAIR!
Not a very cheerful face to be painted on a candy floss cart, eh? And I'll bet none of us will look at cotton candy the same way again. Dust bunnies on a stick. yeccchhh.
was that in the isolation ward??
Sorry for my ignorance but what is cotton candy ? I think its what we call 'Candy Floss' in England, am i right ??
The classic-rock band Jethro Tull had a lyric in a song using the terms "candy floss" and "jam sarnies". I found an on-line *British-slang-to- American-English* dictionary that they were cotton candy and jelly sandwiches.
Hello fellow Brit, Matt Lunn, as Radical Ed pointed out, Cotton Candy is indeed what we call Floss!
Yes, hairballs on a stick, methinks. Yech.
But the face on it rocks!
How did it get there? Did they really sell cotton candy in prison for 50 cents (marked down from $2.00)? You're right "the face rocks".
This thing seems asout of place in a jail as possible. If I was in some big bleak prison and I saw something like this I think I would get a little sad.I mean this would remind me of amusement parks, holding hands with a lover on a ferris wheel, and all those things that were taken from my life that I might not experience again for many years.
It looks like it may have been used in a play... did this prison have a theatre or anything?
I agree with the comment posed by rich_edwards79, it does seem to have once been part of a theatrical production, long since over
I don't know what it was used for but I know I might not have been able to resist the temptation to take it home if I were Motts.
I get this wierd vision of that one inmate on Con Air who had to wear dress, pushing this cart around! Ugh! Just wrong!
FREAKY
I think the selective coloring is great here. I noticed the face on the cart as well and thought it was kind of ironic, Tragedy. My husband is British. We have had some confusion on occassion from the differences in American and British English. As others have pointed out Candy floss and cotton candy are one and the same.
I'm English and my girlfriend is American... and the light-hearted 'to-may-to / to-mah-to' banter still tickles us lol! Not to mention the occasional confusion over vocabulary (especially regarding food items for some reason!?!) Well, as the old saying goes, we are two nations 'divided by a common language'. It's quite interesting to find out about the origins of the subtle differences in our speech and cultures...
I was also wondering about this being for a theater production, but if so they wouldn't have the candy itself.

Interesting and great usage of selective coloring
Maybe just the angle, but are those roses on it? If it was used in a play, that would make sense...
I always wondered if those were roses but no one else seemed to notice it so I never asked in fear of looking an idiot.
I thought it was roses too.. and the dust bunny cottoncandy flavored looks distusting! But hey woudln't anyone clean that up after a theatere? there wouldn't be a play going on one night then after the play, abandon the place. odd.
Just like cotton candy, a sweetheart's love can be so sweet.
It could have been used when families where visiting the inmates. to raise money for something what I don't know.
They probably wheeled it into the casino room. That is where the money was
ITS FOR THE FAIR OF DESPAIR
Candy for the canned..how ironic and odd!!!
From the looks of the brown mass on a stick, I still think 50 cents is overpriced.
LOVE the CRYING face on the PRISON cart! Singing the blues while you eat your candy huh? I guess so!
well...thats uh.. random

haha VP " Candy for the Cannd" i like that lol
LOL, that was funny VP.

Motts, I can honestly say that i love what you have done with this picture. It just pop's out at you.

Also, i didn't see if it was mentioned but the stuff on top of the cart are most likely silk roses. My grandmother has silk flowers all over her house and as soon as i looked at them, i knew what they were. The way they are colored are wierd though. The green part are the leaves and the pink would be the flowering part.
Usually there are two masks used for representing the arts. Happy and sad.
Any idea if there was a happy face on the other side of the cart?
Freaky but i love it
spooky
Whoever put the "mask of the Greek tragedy" on this pink colored cotton candy machine knew exactly what they were doing.

Signed: An American Soldier in Germany.
On the next episode of Prison Brake.... Hide in the Cotton Candy Cart!!! LOL
There are a lot of odd items in this prison. Could a bad "B" movie have been filmed here?
The Contrast is the greatest.
*CUPS HANDS OVER MOUTH*

COTTTTTTONNNNNNNNN CANDY FOR SALLLLLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEE 10 CENTS

AS Homer would say:"ummm,-floss....."

I think that cart needs to be turned around so we can see the laughing drama mask.

:D
Didn't anybody know a friend who had an uncle or cousin who pushed a cotton candy cart in the big house? No? I got nothing then. Surreal shot.
