Those are powerful photos...
This is an absolutely fabulous shot! Actually puts me in mind of the French Quarter in New Orleans.
Kind of looks like an old train or bus station.....Those columns are awesome..
Dang, this would make an awsome movie set. And they should pay *you*, Motts, to do the photography. That would be one stunning visual feast of a movie.
The columns are fantastic Motts! Is that curved bannister a stairway going down?
Does anyone else feel as if they are looking at this scene in a dollhouse? When I first looked at this shot, I thought it was a miniature.
It does look a little like something from a dollhouse, well dollprison.Elbowgeek is also right I think it looks like something built on a soundstage for a movie.
This does not belong in a prison.
You can still hear the chatter
That's just the squirrels.
I'm here.. eating boiled Interstellar Squirrels for dinner.. But I am here
Twug, are you gonna weigh in here on the choice of Interstellar Squirrell of Doom under glass for a main course??
Don't worry, Twug, it wasn't one of your family members. I checked it's lineage first. It was related to those /other/ Squirrells.
The shot reminds me of one of those "Ferret Castles."

*New, From Motts' Creations!!!!*
Does your Ferret need to feel like a
KING?!?!

Aside from the gastric discomfort I spoke of earlier, if it's as light and fluffy as it claims to be, and it's absolutely not of this earth, maybe...
Just remember, the people around you probably suffer more from your gastic discomfort, if you catch my drift.
It looks like a deserted saloon in the old west. A player piano, some dancers and card tables would complete the scene.
Can't even describe how fantastic I think this photo is. Wonderful, wonderful job!
Is it just me or does anyone else feel it comical that there are large Exit signs on each floor. I can't imagine what each inmate thought about every time they would pass those signs.
I believe this was a central administration area, where people other than correction officers would be working (secretaries, etc). The prisoners most likely only passed through on the bottom floor to be admitted and expelled from the cells (behind the far wall).
Is the curved railing below the stairs another stairway? Like a spiral staircase?
Very light very linear.Symetrical.

One has to be reminded this is an access to a prison.
This is a shot of the "Rotunda" where the visits occurred and some administrative offices were located. It was also used as the booking area for years until a new intake area was built in the basement below this area.
This also reminds me of the French Quarter or some grand STEEL ballroom............
Well.........today i took those columns home, bought them........they are 27.8 ft tall and weigh appr. 8000 lbs each! They are simply wonderful!
And the curved railing (which I also bought has a spiral staircase going under the jail, lots of little rooms down there.
this is the main rotunda where the visits happend and the brass had offices.
way back in the day this is where inmates were hung, the stairs lead to platforms where citizens would watch the hanging. The last person to die by hanging in massachusetts was hung here for killing his family...
stairs to hospital annex and a section
