Mathiputer

Mathiputer

Looks like the mathiputer can add and substract in minutes!

It's an odd shaped device used to teach arithmetic, made by Cybernetic Systems, and it came in a few different flavors. This one had an unhappy face that said "Incorrect!" displayed; looks like someone threw it against the wall after reading that!

that is the coolest thing! wow, how you fought the temptation to take that thing home is beyond me! i have NEVER seen anything like it!
A sad commentary. So many in jail lack education. I teach in the school that gets the students after their lack of eduaction has already started to do its damage. Many leave us for jail.
that is totally bizarre, ive never heard of anything like that either. way cool Motts
Holy Leap Frog, Motts!
It's so clean!
Cool!
Damn that is cool! Reminds me of one of those old eight-track machines that fetch a small fortune now in retro shops. Too bad it's ruined, would probably be worth a bit now...

"Cybernetic Systems" - somehow the hi-tech name doesn't fit with this relic of the analog era - but then this may have been the height of technology when it was new!?!
Okay, I googled this and all I could find were half-a-dozen eBay listings... it looks as though this was an electric learning aid from the 1970s that quizzed you on maths questions, and would have originally had a red LED display on the front, like a vintage pocket calculator. Before someone lobbed it at a wall that is. One of those auctions stood at about $50!
This is probably from the era of the early Speak and Spells and that little robot that lit up and made noises and would quiz you on various things.
Reminds me of those nasty little furby things. I used to have one a while ago. My brothers taught it how to swear. I didn't think that thing could really learn but it did. It never learned anything else. It would decide to talk at random times too, like when my great spinster aunt who was raised in a monostary decided to visit. She was the reason, I believe, it disappeared.
I would have snagged it. That thing is cool.
Where the heck've you been, N?
I gotta agree with some other sentiments - I would have had a darn tough time leaving that thing there...
Does it ask the jailbird math questions too? "Johnny stole five apples. If he shoved three down his pants, how many...."
Leap Frog's great-grandfather.
Something like this should be in a museum. I never seen anything like it.
That's crazy looking
sorry, didn't mean to break it, but it said "incorrect" when I pressed "4" when it asked "2+1=?"
Stupid machine.
I dug one of these up in our junk pile today. I gave it away as a joke for replacement of a calculator I had lost. Good laughs. Those things are kind of funny.
i woulda stole that with the quickness and showed it to everybody i know
Clockin' some crazy milage look- like many things from that era.

Now thats funny :)~
I believe that's the first model. I've got a Mathiputer that my dad got when we were kids. It's one piece (without stand) and is bright yellow. It still works. Solid state. The mathiputer is awesome! Great photo!
E's sister... we'd all but 'wait in line' for our time on the mathiputer. I've vague memories of Mom setting the kitchen timer. Fun times!
looks like a push button phone mated with car spedometer
cybernetics....................I"LL BE BACK
Um, so basically a VERY big calculator?
The class rooms behind the library.
i want a simple calculater like that. none of that new complicated stuff.
Funky device from the 1970s. Neat find.
