when i was here their were trays all over here
No more metal trays these days. Cardboard or foam trays now. Metal trays draw blood when you are hit over the head or face with them. :-)
Are those desks in there Motts?
Not the most appealing place to eat.
They do plastic trays in Texas.
I wouldn't want to eat here.
they use plastic in iowa unless ur in the hole than u get a loaf, all ur food cooked into a loaf and served in a paper bowl.
LUNCHTIME
Plastic trays in CA, too. Like the ones you get in most school lunchrooms with the little 'sections' that nothing fits in.
come and geddit prisoners!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yumm, its a terrific place to eat!

by the way the floor looks like water to me, neat.
Great photo, love the colors in it
All i can see is one thing...

MOSH PIT!!!!!!!!!
Or...better yet...Mott's pit!

(no offense mr.mott!)
This is so depressing -- can you imagine eating here with those overhead pipes. Oh, well, it was a jail, after all!!
Your right its a jail but how many times you think the workers called in sick?????
Maybe those buffet tables on the right were for the workers -- free food.
It almost looks like a stage straight down. No curtains, though, on the windows.
Yea powder eggs, powder milk, spam and your all time favorite drink Prune Juice!!!
Fantastic picture. At least they removed alot of the furniture and whatever before they abandoned it; not like some other places.
Lets Dance!
Used as dining hall for meals and recreation hall for evenings and weekends. Sat down there for years monitoring 140+ inmates at any one time with about 5 officers. Two TVs in the kitchen plus a couple of pay phones mounted on wall. Very noisy and when trouble started you had to act quickly before it got totally out of hand.
Spent a lot of time there in and out. You had to be strong to survive on the 4th and 8th tier.
Looks like the show but there is no stage. The windows look into the exercise yard
