what's that strange rectangular light fixture doing between the sinks??? most peculiar.....

; )
Ok, when I first saw that, I thought it said "Salad" Hazard....I think I may need a nap.
Good Idea Give the convicts scalding water...
Barbara, you're not alone. I saw the exact same thing for a second.
I don't know why, but the mood in this picture seems rather melancholic, and somewhat violent.
I suppose that is due to the monochrome, and the broken mirror.
AngelWolf, the rectangular thingy between the sinks looks to be a soap dispenser, sorry to disappoint

I thought the message said "sealed hazard", but that didn't make any sense either, it's strange how quickly your mind formulates something after a quick glance...
LMAO, grifspop! : )

Soap dispenser, yes...but what of that ugly little grey box-with-a-funky-looking-opening in front?
Light fixture.

When I served my time at the County Spa - 43 days for traffic ... long story, not wreckless or DUI, though - they had an "InstaHot" water spigot in the sink for our use. It was a lot safer than giving us a microwave and it worked well enough for making Top Ramen (NEVER can eat that stuff again), instant coffee (gag) and Hot Chocolate. It also worked really well to soften up Jolly Rancher candies to make roses out of them ... hey, when you're locked up you get bored. Call it "Arts & Crafts." I can also take a Playtex Tampon, coloured pencils and a stencil to a white sheet of paper and make it look like airbrush. Ahh ... life ... it teaches us so much useless stuff.

P.S. Nice lighting fixture.
Uh...Creativity? I'm speechless Serrena, why not become an elementry school art teacher and teach little kids this stuff. Ha ha.
Wow, defenitely an older jail/prison. Nowadays they use an alluminum like mirror that doesn't break so that inmates can't stab someone with shards of glass
before the days of tempered water,it would come stright off of the boiler to the fixture,at about 180' F today prisons have one pc. S/S fixtures sink/toilet/drinking spigot all in one
Notice the water tap coming off the hot on the left side going to the floor for a bucket or something.
A plastic gallon jug still in the sink.
This was what was called the "barbershop". It was opened in the morning to allow for clean up and shaving.
the rectangle between the sinks is a soap dispenser
Nope. That's definitely a light fixture.
turn down the temp on the water heater
Barber shop.
Weird! They had mirror-glass. Kinda dangerous, methinks.
