Okay... but I want my flash light and my rubbah duck...
His name is Jack.... he's an attack duck... *firm nod*
Wait!! We can't leave without Lynne......and where's ~Me? **searching the crowd for pirate derbies**
Awesome shot
I want to live there. Cept in the winter. I bet no one volunteers to plow that drive way!
Wow, that is in really good condition. I'd love to just walk in through the ride and check out what it all looked like!
*whine, whimper*
Kiddies, just follow me, Ill protect you (evil laugh)
Thanks awyper, but if you turn evil on us, Lynne will be there to protect us!
Dont worry my dear Jude, Ill never turn evil.
But you DO have the best little evil laugh, my friend - it will keep the vicarious thrill seekers away and leave only those with an open mind. :-)
no one mentioned bringing the beer?
I say...beer schmeer, this calls for super "smirnoff" with a hard hat on the side ;-0
smirnoff vodka??
Where is Radical Ed and his shopping bag full of spirits?? Lynne, thanks for the comment, im honored (lousy spelling) :-> Great Place for a Pirate Dance.....................................
yes, barbie, my name, mind you.
Ah , what the heck, vodka can't hurt, huh?
Anyway, Pirate dances are always welcome!
:-)
That rubber duck will shield us!
The light fixture on the side of the castle was a strobe light so it looked like lightning when you were in the car
In the best shape
we're ready..... to ride it....... but where's everybody?
This park looks so unbelievable! It's quite odd that a whole large amusement park such as this would be left completely vacant. Such a large area of land. And this ride looks like many a ride I've seen at various carnivals. I wouldn't imagine it's to sturdy anymore after 10 years of laying dormant.
Does anyone else hear the twilight music playing besides me???
Some of us loved Rocky Point and we like to share our feelings about it and how much we miss it.
yes i do hear the twilight zone music but just faintly (im probraly going insane though) and you have to admit it is some what intiresting to read thease little sorta convos
the convo's are v. v. v. amusing to read sometimes but then again when people have convo's between themselves it can make you feel a little left out...*sob*
Now darlin', come on over to the Forum and we'll chat it up with you all over the place. :-)
Rocky Point Park was the second oldest amusement park in America. It is a damn shame they let it go. Basically the park was a victim of bad management. They ran her into the ground. This park was th bomb for over 100 years. The last five or six years the park started to die and the last owners let it go. Poor management and a lack of pride. I think they were planning on selling the land to developers for big bucks.

Rocky point Park first opened in 1847, she was the pride of Rhode Island back in the day. A sad loss for Rhode islanders...
This picture reminded me that there is a place like this somewhere out here (san diego) i passed it once on the freeway. I love going to places like this. Its kinda scary in an old abandoned kinda way.

I love the pictures,.
Wow. It's in really good shape.

Too bad it closed down, especially since it was bad management.

Would've been totally awesome.
damn i cant believe they left a car there..... i probably would have pushed it around the track :)
Talk about "got up and lett"
oooooooooooo.....
awesome.....I love this ride.
Yes, it sure is a shame. Nothing original and left to look back on anymore. A park this old should have somehow been saved. Now it's gone forever.
EVERYTHING JUST STOPPED ONE DAY JUST LIKE THAT ITS OVER AND ITS ALL ABOUT WHAT WE LEAVE BEHIND.
I have some Gin if anyone will have any.
Frightening.
I wonder what would have happened if you pushed it down the track...
WHEN THERE'S NO MORE ROOM IN HELL THE DEAD WILL WALK THE EARTH!
I'd be in seventh heaven to walk through this place! I live in Maine and we have NO abandonded amusement parks around or near that i know of. Anyone know of any?

Would this or would it NOT make an EXCELLENT set for a horror/supsense film?
I'd like to add that in actuality it is Frankenstien's Castle as noted in the mural on the lower left hand corner incorporated as a sign pointing the way.
I wanna walk on that ride thing. I wanna see if it still works. ONE WAY TO FIND OUT.
I wanna ride that
its the huanted house of h---
Don't forget me!!!!!! Gotta bring a snuggie to cover my eyes with!
wow scary!
