You can just imagine a horse drawn carriage pulling into the portico to drop off a new admission in the dark of the night...

WOW! FANTASTIC! IT LOOKS LIKE AN OLD PHOTO OF THE PLACE.
Love the way Motts has described his view on this picture, I can definitely see it too in the windmills of my mind
God I love black and white photo's, they can give just the right touch
Ive been here back in the 1980's in my psychiatric rotation for nursing school. We were allowed in the main building and on the grounds with our patients if they had that privilege. These photos capture that eerie haunting feeling very well. Brings back memories for sure!
Motts just curious how many cameras do you carry?
I only carry my Canon 5D nowadays...
What exactly was this facility used for? I know only that it was some sort of hospital for the mentally ill.
Hi Katrina,
Worc State Hospital was a Mental hospital and still is. The old section has been closed for years (what you see in the photo) but next to it is a newer facility and will be replaced with a state of the art new faclity in a few years.
Instead of this building feeling like a fortress and protective, it gives me the feeling of trying to overpower us. Not comfortable at all. At least this photo gets rid of that red brick! Thanks as always for the GREAT photos!
Lordy: It's still the big penus thing. Damn, it's intimidating. Jesus, Lynne and Motts, ya'll know what I'm saying. It just picks up what it's all about. I just seem to back to all the Mott's photos and pick up more things everytime I do. Lovingly.
I live around this area and I visited this place. I got permission to take some pictures and I got followed by a patient from the new hospital..he said he liked my pants haha :)
...Its how you would imagine 'Arkham' to look.... Mr Motts... You are a genius!
I think I have a new favorite! This building is amazing, and astounding pictures as usual. Motts. Thank you so much for sharing.
Ive been here so many times... Really kinda scary
