Glowing Peaks

Glowing Peaks

The back of administration... the middle facade was probably the hallway which connected to a central theater or kitchen.

I recall when I worked at Worcester State Hospital back in 1953.I wasn't ther e to,log but the few memories I have are sill prominent in my mind. One was taking the the clients to supper . We had to gather all of them and closley watch them as we marched down a long hall way or to the main kitchen in the basement of the administrtion Bldg.
To my first encounter with this routine I was amazed how a few of the cilents would deficate in the tunnels ,on the way to dinner or supper. Then after we got through eating we marched them back to their wards , A janitor would hose down all that was left behind into serwer like basins in the tunnel.
It was horrifying to me bu tI accepted it aa part of life that went on in there.
I also recall giving the females baths .These poor creatures need ed help in the showers So we would put bathing suits on to help them clean up. It was a hard time for adjustments in the State system then.
There is more to say but now I am retired from the Commonwealth of Mass
after retiring from Westboro State Hospital from 1983 and this year our of Lord 2006,............Beatrice Vincequere
Beautiful photography. The old stone doesnt have that wonder and luster anymore so its good to see how the building is begining to really fade out.
