Micromax

Micromax

Made by Leeds & Northrup, this recording device probably dates back to the 1930's.

One of your creepiest machine photos yet. Something about the lighting on the dials below. Looks like it belongs in the "lunatic hospital" part of the game American McGee's Alice. Very cool!
Max! You still here? He's calling you names, son! =8-o
so this device kept track of electrical currents in conjunction with equipment used for ,oh, say, >shock < treatment 8-O
Couldn't find a record on-line anywhere of this company making parts or equipment specifically associated with ECT.
there are always trial productions that companies might not record. Sometimes a company is asked to engineer a machine or paste together something to aid with a problem....
Lynne, from your experience, does it look like a regulator for ECT or another kind of therapeutic equipment?
Are you trying to get me to publicly admit that I use ECT on the people I work with? ;-)
LOL ! :-). Nooooo
I worked in a different type of production field that used an innovative material...companies had requests for different uses of the materials...
...but is there somethin you wanna talk about though ;-)
ECT is still used today when conventional theraoies and medices don't I heve never had it but it was presented as a last resort. My understanding is that you are sedated. Depending on how much you've had, you can expierience long term memory lost among other things. My Great Aunt had it over60 plus years for postpartum depression. She is in her nineties unfortunatly no longer with the program. I dont believe this is because of her age because her siblings were all fine in their old age.
just read my posting, sorry for the misspelling. Has nothing to do with my state of mind just an inablility to type
aformerpatient , no need to worry. about misspelling( You spelled misspelling right!)...your comments are welcome, I am sure. You help others see a different point of view. I have a relative that probably received every kind of therapy used in the 1940's-60's. Including the big pin.
She was 24 years oldin 1949 and it wouldn't be done now. So keep relaying your knowledge :-)
They still use electroshock here. Lateral or Bi-Lateral. On some dementia patients those who are more violent then others recieve it. They get sent to The Danville State Hospital. They come back and they're fine for a while then sometime later on they get it again.
This site is amazing, disturbing and intriguing (sp). I am very interested in mental health issues and currently studying human services and pyschology. I recently went to see the hospital at night. The visions and feelings I got were horrifying... no I am not a freak but have somewhat of a sixth sense. I was so frightened I bolted out of there. Some very disturbing and violent things were done there if my instincts are correct.
Check out the local airport or bus station and tell me you don't get the same "sixth sense" that bad things happened there. ;-)
will there is now another kim. so i'll be of detroit. it could have been for eeg's to record the brain waves of the paients not everything has to be related to ect treatments i've had 6 treatments had short term mermory loss. Helped with deep depression in 2000. This is a treatment that has helped many people. As with everything not all things work for all people.
About ECT...

I recieved 13 treatments of bi-lateral ECT in 2004. It was utilized to treat a severe depressive episode within my severe BiPolar disorder. The main side-effect was severe amnesia that led to my dissapearance for short time. (In fact, I still do not remember any details about my dissapearance.)

Untimately, ECT was not beneficial for me. I also required extensive hospitalization afterwords due to the lack of symptom relief through ECT.

I hope this helps with the questions about ECT, please feel free to ask more questions.
What is the machine below the calender recorder thing

I don't know why but the lighting on the dials reminds me of the coin-operated robot fridge thing in that episode of Wallace and Gromit where they go to the moon.

I have a Micromax. They were made in the 1930's. I am looking for another one, and a Speedomax from the same era. If anybody ever comes across one, I will take it.
