Golly! I ain't never seen one like that! How about you, anna? I would love that for our museum. Unfortunately, they sold off almost all our old equipment and furniture. I know everyone is amazed when they see hospitals full of old equipment, but it would sure be nice to have access to some of that old stuff. Much of it is outdated fairly quickly, so unless you have a large auction you often end up with buildings full of that stuff. For some strange reason, no one rushes in to buy urine-soaked beds or couches that have been sat on by hundreds and hundreds of people for day after day, year after year.
umm okay, so is it wrong that I have one...sans the arms and back, but I keep the lid flipped down and use it as a side table next to my futon. Visitors are usually like ohhh neat, what is it? (while flipping the lid up) then they see the commode part and say, "ohhh" or "ewww"...I never thought of the actual "hundreds of people" possibly using it though...thanks Lynne...Oh well, I still like my side table...I think...
no lynne, i havent, but thank god it has a bucket in it. I sure would hate to clean the floor if it didnt *snickers*
ragdoll, it always cracks me up to go in a patients room to see a visitor sitting on the commode not knowing what it is, lol
To ragdolledwahine and anna:

WAWAWAWAWAWAWAWA!!!!!!!!!! 8`-)
If they could only build one into a lazy boy! ;-)
Ed, do I need to call your wife for a little chat so she can be prepared? ;-)
Ed and I can start a commode/furniture business. I can see it now, commode dining tables...
I think that's a beautiful commode. So much more stylish than the ugly white plastic ones they use now. Was it to be bolted to the floor? What's up with the base on it?
Ed - if you could build that into a la-z-boy, you wouldn't even have to wait for commercials.
That was the Idea! Ha Ha ;-)
i agree with anna, visitors will sit on anything
Back then, everything was made to last a hundred years or more...

...But wouldn't sitting bare on a wooden seat be prone to giving splinters?
probably, if the seat was really old, the new oak ones you see today are pretty smooth, but not made for a long sitting session
...a whole new view on bucket seats
It looks like an old school toilet. That's awesome.
so, was there anything in the bucket, or...??
that gives a new meaning to the word port-o-potty
It kind of reminds me of a shcool desk with a built in toilet! I bet teachers would like that, that way the students could just let nature call and still not miss any lessons. Man am I babbling.
I don't remember eating any corn!
gulag torture toilet
It is still not a "Crapper" :-)
Sorry, but I can't help but wonder...Motts, amongst all the great places you photograph, have you ever had to use one of these amazing toilets? lol
