Stained Glass

Stained Glass

I like this photo a lot, and the fact the stained glass remains so intact.

It's very beautiful - very elegant.
My friend and his wife are stained glass artists. They also do restoration. They would crap twice and die to see this left to its fate.
it reminds me of an abandoned castle.
Oh ym heck, Motts, I can see why this would be one of your favourite shots you've taken. It's just awesome. Totally amazing.
Richard - mind if I steal your last line? I happen to think it might come in handy pretty soon . . . : - ]
Go right ahead Lynne ; )
Wow, they sure don't make things like they used to, do they? The architecture is beautiful, and the glass is stunning.
JUST LIKE I WAS TALKIN ABOUT!
OH YEA I FORGOT TO SAY THAT THOSE UGO LIGHT FIXTURES TOTALLY DONT MATCH ALL OF THE BEAUTY SURROUNDING IT.
Oh my god, that is so pretty. Great details.
W O W !
One small bit of beauty in a place whwere there wasn't much
looks like the library in new york, on the day after tomorrow (i wouldnt know for sure cause i never been there :( )
being a new yorker, I hate to disappoint but the public library isnt quite this breathtaking..but the city itself is gorgeous. definately plan a trip sometime...you won't regret it, sallie
I so wish no vandal ever puts a stone thru those!
Why haven't those been removed and stored away safely somewhere? Apart from anything else, they must be worth a few bob! I can imagine so many imbeciles wetting themselves with excitement at the prospect of destroying them with a well-praced rock :(

Is this part of the Kirkbride building or the 1900s part (I ask because that stained glass is almost Art Nouveau in design...)
Beautiful! I love the detail of the woodwork! It goes well with the stained glass!
hey motts,do you run across stained glass windows alot in these old buildings??im a glass master and love these shots.....good work...any other pictures of glass work????
Usually the stained glass gets stolen pretty quickly... I know I photographed some more this past summer, but the ones I have found already can be found here: http://opacity.us/sear...ages&u=1#results
was this one added to your collection? http://www.opacity.us/image2303.htm
No-one hurts stained glass
The stained glass is so beautiful. It looks sort of like a peacock.
Someone come steal the windows with me ^_^.
You know on a more serious note, a lot of this hospitals would be a fantastic place for a college. I mean connect two patient rooms, and you have the size of a small dorm room surely. And the theaters could be re-used, oh an with a little renovations in the tunnels you cold use them to transport students to other builidings on the campus in the winter so you wouldn't have to have cold grumpy kids. Although it would take a great deal of moeny to fix up these places, you could really do a lot of good if you turned one into a college. It makes perfect sense...Ohio University (I think) used part of an old hospital to make into a campus, and it's quite beautiful. I think Danvers needs a college. :)
that is super pretty
It's the angle that captures the full effect of this shot. The solemnity of a church, a minds eye of what was and a history unto it's self in one quick photo. You have done your craft well.
Wow, this photo almost doesn't fit with the others, cause of how beautiful and non-damaged this part of the building looks. I love this.
I agree on all the comments and was quite confused as to the location of this hospital in Northampton, I have lived in Northampton for 20yrs and have never come across the hopital. The realisation of why I had never seen the hospital then came to me, I live in Northampton, England. We are not the only country with great architecture.
I love this photo because I have often looked up at this window from the outside and wondered what was behind it. Now I know!
What a beautiful shot! Such details to the windows.
What a beautiful window!
Ah, and all the theater windows are now gutted. How sad, but it did give that part of the building a different vibe...in a good way
It's absolutely gorgeous.
rare
Fantastic photo! All of yours are, but this one takes the cake :)
Oh my! What a damn shame, I hope someone took those breathtaking windows out before this place was demolished!
it kinda reminds me of a dance hall. o.o
