Are those hallways fairly wide, or do they just seem that way due to the angle of the shot?
It looks so sterile and clean everywhere on the pics.. No tags or anything? Amazing if the place is in the shape like seen in these pics...
Yep these hallways are very wide...

This place has it's fair share of vandalisim, but it's not too bad (yet).
Im a fire fighter and not too long ago I responded to a place and went inside for the odor of gas... well, it kinda looked like that, and creeped me out enough to leave.
mr motts, you are a fantastic photographer. or should i say a record keeper.
Lynne, I would imagine those halls would be quite wide, as seen in this picture, due to the ammount of wheel chair and possible gurney/bed traffice seen in these hallways.
I think I understand why there were rounded corners on the walls (patient safety?), but I wonder what the purpose of the severely angled baseboards was?
I think they are easier to clean beacuse things don't get stuck in the otherwise sharp corner of the wall and floor. These seem to be common in washdown and seclusion rooms.
I was wondering if it was just for looks, but your explanation makes much more sense. Thanks Motts!
I was thinking that the baseboards are for wheeled things. If you got too close to a wall, you'd slide back to the middle before you actually bumped the wall.
I agree the baseboards are meant to keep carts and gurneys away from the wall to keep from damaging the plaster. I painted a hospital once and noticed that the architects took protection of the wall structure quite seriously, with metal corners and the like.
I conversed with a nurse who used to work at the old wreck. She told me that these old wards smelled bad. It's sort of like the corner wall at the right. It really was ashes to ashes dust to dust. All the old odors of years and years of human inhabitation it was processing itself and releasing all the bad odors that had built up in it's walls.
that hallway surely could creep anyone out' it looks like something i've never seen before yikes;;;;;;;;;
Notice the little drawing on the right wall just at the foreground of the photo. Looks like a woman's face.
Those rounded walls and slanted baseboards remind me of one of those concrete skatepark pools and a military bunker at the same time.
fantastic
this pics are lovely theres so much of a story there and i think the voilent war pic is wot it the title says as the corner are padded
