That's some height there, eh? The lines drag me upward to the top of the shot. You did something or another with the wide angle, eh? No? Yes? I like it, whatever it is!
Was the elevator still in the shaft?
I think that's the top of it at the bottom of the photo.
Wow, how did you get in the shaft? or was it one of those freight elevators thats exposed.
Beautiful soft colors, great angle!
What floor me dear? Are you descending or accending. Each floor had a new and different dimension for all to experience. The truth is in the trip.
I find it interesting that the shaft had windows - as far as my past experience goes, rarely do elevators have any means of seeing out, unless it's in a place that likes to show off - like a mall or something..
The thing is a lot of old elevators had windows in the shaft (and odely the elevators themselves had no windows in the part you ride in) LOL Whats the point of putting windows in the shaft if the person rideing can't see out?
Parts of the hospital were built before electric elevators were even invented, much less a standard. This could have been a stairwell or a corner of the original 1856 "Old Main" building, and the windows were left in.
it looks like the shot woz taken from the top of the elevator cart. has it crashed at the bottom of the shaft???
What were WINDOWS doing in an...elevator shaft??
There are cage elevators that are surprisingly open - I've been in some that are open enough to have proper airflow and are built in exposed shafts with windows. I wonder if that was there case here?
I'm not sure which area of the complex this shaft is in, but I'd guess at it being part of Old Main (1856) or an early 1900 addition, before elevators were used / common. Looks like they tore out a series of small rooms to create the shaft, and simply left the windows intact.
