Landscape

The back of the hospital complex; on the far right is a small empty building (synagogue?), behind that is the theater and chapel, in the center are the workshops, fire department, and the morgue/laboratory, and the main Kirkbride building is in the distance.

Definitely an extremely swell shot. Definitely.
so serene and picturesque even though the shot is chopped in half. i can see where you might have been loathe, though, to omit either part of the sky or part of the landscape, eh, motts? if you take away half of the sky you could make some pretty nifty x-mas cards out of this one.
AngelWolf, did you scan the photo? It's very picturesque!
oh yes, and a beautiful panorama at that! i was making reference to the horizon line cutting the photograph in half, iow, running through the horizontal center of the picture. my father was a photographer, and so i was i once, years ago, so i have a very critical opinion regarding photography (actually art in general, esp. music). i was referring to the "rule of thirds". so whenever i praise motts for his beautiful work it is with a "jaundiced eye", so to speak.... my compliments aren't to be taken lightly.....

thank you, my dear twug, for pointing that out, though. i am sure that there are some who might have missed the panoramic view if it weren't for your post.

such a peaceful view of the area, it is indeed VERY picturesque! :)
Thank you for the critical comments, I always take them into consideration and look forward to reading any well founded opinion.
why, thank YOU, motts! some of your photos tell a story, some of them, like this one, express beauty. ALL of them are thought provoking and deeply introspective. never mind the "rules", whenever a photograph moves people with such emotion, you may be sure that you have accomplished your ambition, and very successfully, at that! it is that aspect of your work which holds significance. it is captivating an audience. and that is what good photography is all about. and, yes, i notice the imagination and creativity behind your use of infrared and kodalith, among other things, to enhance some of your photos, indeed, the mark of a true artist, as even ansel burned parts of his photos while developing them to enhance their natural beauty. it is what separates simple snapshots from photographic masterpieces.

overall, motts, i am most impressed with your work!
And thank you, my dear AngelWolf! : )
Mr. Motts, why a synagogue? Was it the outward shape or was there a marker on the building? I think i'm missing something....
the building next to the theater was the library, synagogue is in the kirkbride, and is also marked on the outside of the kirkbride. so motts when its the hospital only site coming??? :) looking foward to catching up with you sometime soon dude!
Ah that's it, the library... thanks Snows! The website will get started after the developers have really things under full swing... probably next year, I'm really looking forward to doing it.
Wow Motts, I really love your panoramic shots!
It's like a little city.
This is a beautiful, beautiful picture, no matter how you took it or what you did to take it; simply incredible!!
This brings to mind a communist complex because its completely self sufficient. other than farm land.
another one to add to my list of favorites. Thank you Motts so much for sharing.
I was in there being treated, this was more than an insane asylum
the distant rolling hills add a nice effect too
A whole world unto itself...
