This ship looks rather proud that it has not yet succumb to the fates of her sister ships, now, doesn't it?
Yeah....smug biaatch, aint she?
It's amazing that the bow has rusted completely through so that you can see right inside the ship. This one must have been built with very poor steel -- possibly a wartime rush job.
What I would do to see smothing so amazing, god....
Well, Parker, you could fly to New York, rent a kayak, find out where the heck this place is, load up your digital camera with lots and lots of batteries and storage, and knock yourself out, now couldn't you?
Boy, a great photo. I stand in awe in that once these ships were the pride of the fleet with everyone gazing upon them.
I had a couple of Plymouth Dusters that looked like that...
It looks awsome
everything goes wrong, but I keep high my mind...................
it looks like it has a face on it. take a good look. its erie.
what's the length/breadth of this ship? It bears a vague family resemblance to WW2 liberty ships.
Hass the appearance of some type of warship..given the bullring on the bow...the formal standing jack staff..and the Fairleads further along the focs'le.
Magnificent photo. Its really can be any ship we want it to be.
I am quite sure it is USS PC 1217, a Navy sub chaser from WWII
you are a wicked photographer
Boats scare the shit out of me. I dare not even venture into this gallery, but wanted to say to zryguy, amen to your previous comment to this one, amazing photographs that do change your life.
Sometimes a flagstaff is maintained on wrecks for lot identification.
My father served on PC 1217 during ww 2. He would be sad to see it in such poor condition.
dead slow ahead.....
The last submarine chaser PC1610 is still alfoad in The Netherlands as P641 Le Fougueux see at www.fougueux.nl
Yes the hull does look like a face. It almost beckons to be useful again. So sad
The ghost ship has pulled up to the harbor.
the hull looks faint.... soem of these ships make me want to repair them or something..... it just looks dreadful
Are there any other PC 1217 crew or descendants of crew around?
my father served on the PC-1217 during WW2and was involved with the great atlantic hurricane.
If youy want to see sub chasers today look at the Circle Line boats in New York Harbor, some of them are Ex Navy sub chasers. You can even ride on one if you want.
this is beautiful, imagine how creepy it would be to see @ night in the fog.
Spongebob Squarepants Battle for Bikini Bottom!-graveyard of ships
