nice one
This almost looks like a pier that has deteriorated or what was left after a hurricane storm.
wow
Godd composition and lighting, the decay really comes to life.
Hey that looks in better shape then some of the BC ferries I take to get from the mainland to Vancouver Island. Oh wait, no that is the ferrie I took, MA BAD, MA BAD
Anyone know which ferry this happens 2 be ?
i wonder if any of these boats and or ferries are steam operated
These ferry pictures really freak me out. I can just imagine the activity there by looking at the pictures.
was this the staten island ferry
cool, that look's like she's been there a looooooooong time!
This was one of the Beacon, Newburgh ferrys, before that it was a ferry between Boston and East Boston, or perhaps South Boston. I think it was the Lieutenant Flarity or something like that then became the Beacon before becoming a Witte resident. Yes it was a steam boat!
its funny how something once in literal "ship shape" could end up like this.
I wounder how much of the deck is left.
Wish somehow we knew which ferry this were. Chances are good I've been on it.
I think this is the Beacon from the Beacon Newburgh NY run. Before that it was the Lt. Flaherty or some similar name from the Boston East Boston run. It is a steam boat.
This actually the TOOTH FERRY.
this boat is theDUTCHESS I scraped the ORANGE in black tom Jersey City in late 1970s these boats were steam powered Beautyful boats. After removing the upper decks and engines &boilers & over hanging side decks and all remainging wood The rest of the main deck and hull were steel in good shape. I than put the boat up for sale as a barge. I also removed the two six foot propellers. I ALSO locked the two rudders in place. After a few years i finaly scrapped the boat. I have many pictures of the boat being scrapped. I hated to scrap the poor boat
This reply is for MARGIE from03 05 2007 The boat in the picture is the BEACON NEWBERG FERRY DUTCHESS Please read above comment by me. Thanks
it is amazing that you know that information about some of the boats in the graveyard. you make it sound like you were on some of them. it looks like the boat used to be a nice boat. you know your history. i am impressed. I do not know anything about the boats. i just think the boats look cool. what business did the boats belong to? and how many years have the boats been siting there like that? I would like to explore some of the boats someday but I do not think that will ever happen but i hope that someday i can explore some of the boats that are safe to explore.
I do a lot of kayaking, and the thought of straying anywhere near that is blindingly pertifying. Great job, Motts!!
