I think that looks like moss, JAVA.

Such an odddity that a lovely fireplace like that would be marred by the glare of fluorescent lights.

Creepy. It's almost like it grew out of the ground. Doesn't seem like the bricks in the back of the fireplace are very black, maybe it wasn't used too much?
