That mural really doesn't look that old.Well it's cheery and I think the patients here probably needed as much cheering up as possible.
It's a pretty mural..gives a sense of relief from all the gloominess inside the institution.Or maybe it was just painful to see it every day for someone locked into a mental insitution like this one.
Ditto, one of the more relaxing ones.
This is an image of the fisherman's shack Motif #1 in Rockport Mass. (Hence the MS on the boats.) I have a photograph that matches this painting if you're interested Motts.
What may once have been helpful, is now wasted.
What a bright spot for such a gloomy place.
kind of weird how no one has ruined that and it stays nicely intact, in most other places the thing would be tagged all over, nice shot
Maybe even taggers have some respect? It's a nice thought, but they probably just haven't found it yet... stupid taggers.
If you look at the opening page of this building it tells you about the building and the people that lived there. the people were keep active in the community by going on trips. maybe the reason the mural is not tagged is because there is a 800 bed meduim secuity prisoin on the rest of the buildings. so it helps to read the very first page.
that mural looks freshly painted, nice colors
I'm a huge boat fan
Im amazed in how well of shape this building is in and how modernized it is
it would make me want to drown myself if i had to stay in the hospital all the time though!!
I think this is a beautiful mural. No doubt the work of patient. Mr. Motts you should photograph a comprehensive compilation of the famous murals at King's Park. I believe they are on a lower floor in Bldg. 93. There has been a lot of community interest in them They don't presently have the funds needed to preserve them. There are no hints as to who the artist was or when they were painted but it is believed they predate 1955. This is because the subjects seem to be in despair and psychotropics weren't introduced until '55.
Wow, this is a good one!
I like that painting. It's so cheery and so forth... blah, blah, blah.
holy shit, that's a famous painting of a building in Rockport MA.
Really pretty :]
