How does a pillow stuffed with hair feel?
It feels a lil hairy
Having a Bad Hair Day? It just might be your Pillow!!
OMG silkster, i havent laughed that hard in a long time, hehehe
Hair-stuffed things feel pretty dense. It's a firm padding.
You can actually see the indentions and wrinkles in the mattress where someone slept.
Damn.
This room really evokes a feeling of sadness, and despair.
During WWII the Nazis would stuff matresses and pillows with the hair of concentration camp prisoners. Its just a thought, and most likely a false one, but what if those pillows were stuffed with the hair of patients.
Great perspective involved in this shot, playing on the idea that there was once human contact with the mattress, which offered a place of comfort for the patient. Years later, he or she is absent, leaving a harsh, cold look in this decaying place.
EWW, that is NASTY. Look at the stains half way down it too...
Well hey at least we now know what they did when they cut patients' hair.
it kind of looks like someone is sitting on the mattress.
ewe does anyone thing that people are still sleeping here? (bums)
OK, dumb question, but WHY WHY WHY would a pillow be stuffed with HAIR?....why not just regular....I don't know, PILLOW stuffing?...Would it be human hair? That's just a little macabre to think about....maybe it's horse hair, like they used to stuff couches with. If it's human, that's just WRONG!!...:-0
Probably because that icky polyester stuff wasn't in existence or widely used when the pillow was made.
....hmmm. Yep, you're probably right. But what about feathers or down?.....cotton batting?....torn (clean) strips of rags?, SOMETHING besides HAIR.?..OK, I'm trying...:-)....I don't know. It just seems....yucky to sleep on a hair-filled pillow...:-p...(shudder)...
Most mattresses and some pillows were stuffed with horse hair until relatively recently:

Yeag, guess so, Lynne. You're right, I know (horse-hair couches, etc...). ...I just...eeww!...still weird to me. Of course, I also think it's rather bizarre that people even today will buy another person's cut-off hair (albeit clean & processed) and attatch it to their OWN head (human hair extensions)......just a little "not-right" to me....but, who am I to say....(shrugs)...:-)..Getting off track, but ..same goes for super-gluing pieces of plastic to your real fingernails.....:-0,,,? (wrenches self back to subject of photo.....)
BTW, Lynne, I enjoy reading your explanations of things on this site. They shed a little light on these "dark" places, I think...:-)...
Thanks! It's an interesting field, to say the least. I have enjoyed learning about it as I have worked in different places, and this site has challenged me to learn even more.
great shot and concept.
this room has a lot of personality.
^^^Whatever they said.

LOL!
to answer the original question asked "How does a pillow stuffed with hair feel?" with it's hands. sorry I just had to say it.
i hope they wash the hair before its put in the pillow or mattress or before its cut from the donor / victom nothing worse than smelling dirty old hair....yuck
Very intense Quality, but yet the picture indeed is depressing.
