Motts, what are those rolled up things on the floor? Are they asbestos tubes?
They look like pipe insulation, they might contain asbestos I'm not sure.
Do you wear some kind of mask to cover your mouth and nose in these facilities where there is alot of asbestos?
In steam tunnels or confined spaces with friable asbestos.
THIS IS SO COOL . I GO INTO SCARY PLACES TOO.IN CHINO ,CA THERE TRASHING A LOT OF FARM LAND .I HAVE A LARGE COLLECTION OF JUNK FROM MEAT HOOKS TO BONEY DEAD KITTY.
hey, Motts...was that bed burnt or deteiorated...possibly from a radiation leak from that x-ray emitter...?
It was most likely set on fire after abandonment.
I never undestood the fact why these buildings where left with all this stuff ...are the xray machines not worth anything?...
uhm ok im sure a lot of people are scared of the dentists office but this dentist office will surley scare the shit out of ya!
I've aquired some old lead x-ray cases that look as though they'd be right at home in this x-ray room. Some of them still have the last date they had been used on the label.
Radioactive material, lead, possible asbestos could this be any more hazardous!?
What did they expect to find inside these poor people?
People with handicaps also get broken bones sometimes, just like "normal" people, and need diagnosis. They also get sick and need medical testing, just like "normal" people. I would be irritated if there were NO facilities for medical care in a large residential facility - THAT would be barbarous. Given how bad the budgets have always been since "normal" taxpayers never vote for any money for these places it is frankly impressive that they had any medical equipment at all.

As a point of reference, it is rather difficult to go to a regular hospital ER with someone who has a handicap of any sort. People always treat you like you are diseased and stare and talk about you like you can't hear them somehow. And if the person you are with has a very short attention span and is in a lot of pain and does not have much in the way of self-control, it is always a jolly good time in the public emergency room. I have spent many hours in ERs and frankly much prefer medical facilities that are on-grounds. The physicians and nurses there get you in a lot faster, they treat you like you know what you are talking about and actually ask for your input on what might be wrong, and they don't act as if the person you are taking for help is carrying the plague. :-)
older xray macine tranformers contain PCBs
EXTREMELY DANGEROUS stuff in here
I think old X-ray machines can still leak radiation ?
No, X-ray machines don't emit that type of radiation that has a period where it will remain after the exposure. PCBs are likley found in the tube and in the high voltage tank (which could be found at the other end of the cables) as it was commonly used as in insulator for high voltage applications.Medical X-rays range from 15,000V (15 kV) in dental and mammography up to 150,000 (150 kV) in Computed Tomography (CT or CAT scan). This system likely produced x-rays between 40 kV and 125 kV
I'd use those pipes to beat my way out!
OK Where is this place?? Me, and Jeremy are going to rescue this X ray Machine, and add it to our collection. Do you happen to know who it's made by? Thanks
