...it's Fairfield Hills, in CT
Don't you folks go to the dentist?
HTuttle: for gawds sake , yeah! This stuff doesn't bother me, though. I have a friend in the biz...and if you don't go.... ; ) ...all the world will know....
seriously...I didn't know what this was as I've never taken notice of the dentists tools-I've never had a problem -high threshhold for pain. (No, I'm not a masochist. Unfortunately or fortunately?, it was my dentist who told me so -now he would be the saddist!)
OK, jokes welcome.
No! No! Not the dreaded DRILL! ElectroShock Therapy! Anything but the dreaded DRILL! L-O-L!
If anything puts fear into the hearts of man, this would be it!
I find the name funny: Mini-Trol
Maybe this was an instrument used to scare some of the patients/clients straight! I always see medicines and hospitals used much of the time for just this purpose. The first one was a joke. Wrong treatment can always feel like punishment and torture. Seems like it can do the job close to present equipment.
MINI-TROL probably is a contraction for MINI CONTROL PANEL
After working in a dental supply company warehouse for 3 years, the tame stuff like drills doesn't bother me one bit. I can't count the number of times I've picked something up while packing boxes and said what the hell would ANYONE need something like THIS for let alone a dentist.

Them people can get their hands on some really freaky stuff... *shudder*
Actually, there are no "drills" on this unit. The piece on the very left is part of the air/water syringe, the other 2 tubings are for the handpieces that were removed. The "mini-trol" was typically an adec unit used by hygienists more than dentists, circa 1970's. It looks as though its missing its metal tray that goes on top of the unit. The switches are in the "on" position!!
I like the really small "power cleaner" thing they use now-it does more delicate work than everything by hand! I used to be rather bothered by the rinse suction when I was a kid, like it was gonna grab my tongue.
I hate the dentist!
I would rather sew my lips together than ever let anyone put something that insane in my mouth...ummmm...no.
