Wheelchair Ward

Wheelchair Ward

These wheelchairs were very odd looking... the bottom piece moved up and down to adjust to varying leg lengths.

probably for patients with cerebral palsy, im just guessing here.
Anna's probably right,it might be especially made for patients with convulsions.
a punishment/control chair...a variation of the crib theme? how easy it would have been to strap in a "problem child" and go about your day. we all want to think the best. beautiful shot.
is there like some writing on the back of the chair? what does it say? looks like spray paint?
Thats one freaky looking wheelchair, but it seems very asylumish lol.
That's a strange looking wheelchair. It can't be very comforting to sit in.
That place looks like a bunker in an old VA hospital
It looks Hannaboletric !
that wheel chair is weird lookin.....
I wonder who the last person to sit in this chair was........?
There is a abandon hospital in vancouver wa that i have always wanted to take pictures in. i guess they have it on complete lock down so no one can get in. i can tell its an amazzing place though i hope it looks like this inside.
this has silent hill written all over it
its awesome all the different types of chairs there are. i would love to photograph them.
come have a seat.. In here. . .
A lot of these were used to move a patient in restraints (not necessarily a patient with cerebal palsy, but possibly.) The chair would allow you to pick up the patient and run straps across the outside to keep them in the chair without having to remove the restraints they are already in.
This should be in a museum.
What does the chair have written on it? it looks like a word where the patient would put their head...
Lets open a wheelchair museum !!!

That is a great idea. It would be great to have all of our speculations and questions put to rest. It would be interesting to see there evolution too.
