The light was coming through the ceiling, which means water got into the wood stairs... they looked a bit rotted out so no I didn't go down there.

You're right Jade...in fact there are many images of what could be hell on this site. And that is not referring to Motts photography, I mean the images he captures! LOL.
I love how the basement seems to glow, and you can see greenish walls and the extremely dirty tile. I feel really drawn to see whats down there for some reason.

The way the rail runs to the back there across the wall and is shaped at the end in a bit of a point brings the shape of a coffin to mind....very creepy.

Agreed with everyone else - the image evokes curiosity yet fear in the viewer, with the the weathered stairs giving the perfect descent into the basement which has an almost unhealthy greeen glow to it.

I'd call this one "Basement Stares" because I feel there's a pair of dark & malevolent eyes staring at me from just within the edge of the shadows. Extraordinarily creepy shot!
