the shapes in the metal look a lot like the provincial flower for Quebec.

living in Louisiana all my life, i have to say that those are some pretty bad Fleurs de Lises(if you don't know what i'm talking about, look and the N.O. Saints football team logo).

Decoration such as this can be a nice little relief... a reminder that cruelty snd neglect probably didn't, in fact, rule the day here. Administration cared enough to add fru-fru that could hold no purpose but to decorate.
