are those stirrups ??
Totally hideous looking!
Good god...
POSSIBLY an examination table.
That is a horrible thing, whatever it is.
hospital bed im sure of it
How the hell do you not get totally freaked going into these places? Do you go by yourself? Great shots totally creepy.
It just looks like a regular hospital bed that's been raised fully at both ends. I doubt if both the leg and head supports would have been extended at the same time when it was occupied, and the lack of a mattress makes it look pretty weird too.

You can see the handles that are connected to a long pole with a thread on the end... before the days of hydraulics and power assistance I suspect (poor nurses!)

The metalwork nearest the camera does look scarily like stirrups... but I think they're just mounts for the wooden baseboard which has fallen off.

Sorry to be a kill-joy lol!
It looks like it may have had wheels at some point...I don't think examination tables often have wheels? (I may be completely off there). Its also in a room full of other beds...although we know we can't necessarily go by common sense in these places (there have been some odd things put in odd places!) I guess I will assume that it was a bed.
I believe Lynne would tell us that this is the "rack" that patients are strapped to for their Chinese Water "Treatment"
Thank you, thank you, Jason, for pointing this out! Yes, you are absolutely correct.
Looks like a gynelogical examination table.
I know everyone, including me, always are saying, "How sad, how horrible", and alot IS sad but I feel that under the circumstances at the time, they did all they could with what they had and what they knew--then. It seems cruel and barbaric to think of certain things they did but I'm sure the professionals didn't have all the modern medical adcantages that we have now. My grandmother used to tell me stories of all the homes in her time for so called "bad" kids. My mom used to say to me occasionally,"If you don't behave I'm going to send you to a home". Well, that used to scare the heck out of me! But now the tables have turned somewhat. When my daughter was younger, and she used to talk back to me, I'd go to smack her face and I got the statement,"If you smack me, I'm going to the guidance councelor!" It goes from one extreme to another.
that would suck being on there
the thought of being on there don't fill me with excitement at all
This room is amazing
Cleaned up a bit, this table could be ALLOT of fun. Of course, this is coming from someone who used to have a fully functional dental chair in their bedroom... Man I miss working at accubite ><
I thought this thing was going to jump out and get me when I clicked to this picture. Wasn't quite expecting it..........great shot!!!
............also looks like rigor mortis has set in!
whoa buddy, that looks way to much like the chair at the OBGYN's office for my comfort. This is an amazing photo
that's just wrong!!
i can just imagine the patients that use to stay on those and had to be controlled.

creeeeepy.
cool! it almost jumps out at you.
Hmmm! (Dr.)Sketch has all the guys shuddering at the thought, or rather photo of what can necessitate sitz bath use...and on the other end, here we grimace at a table with anything resembling stirrups. Funny on both sides of the equation.
some one stolld the motor and the body
Hospital beds are usually totally dismantled and cleaned between residents (or at least they're supposed to be), and there's often spare parts in storage by the cleaning room.
