Is this one of those other weight loss contraptions?
Chalkmisfit, it's a hydrotherapy tub where they put patients in and subjugate them to (I believe) very cold water, or some such thing. Motts would be the guy to ask about Hydrotherapy, as he probably knows more than I on the subject.
Very warm water - it's a great way to relax someone who might have muscle contractions or difficulty just moving around.
Even THIS looks like a machine of torture.
Actually, it was there to help, not torture. The warm water helped relax the muscles, especially for those who were less capable of movement. Although, it does disturbingly look like a sitz bath...
Poor, poor Sketch. Suffering a lifetime of nightmares, of Sitz baths.
It wasn't the sitz bath itself, as the picture that went with it... I had dreams last night that the thing in that picture (I can't even think of it as genitals anymore, as it was half sewn shut!) was chasing me through a hallway of sitz baths! :D
episiotomies, hemorrhoids, sitz baths, OH MY!
Sketchy darling, you don't know me....yet. I was being my usual sarcastic self. Nice to meet you, however!
Ask ~Me to send it to you (or I can, but I don't know your e-mail). It's really scary. Certain things should not, under any circumstance, be sewn up!
Ooo, morbid curiousity has been aroused...any working link to this infamous picture?
Some things are better left unknown... If you really feel that you have to know, do a google search for sitz bath. When you reach a page with a large disturbing picture and the company name "Adam" on it, you're there... ~shudder~ And I had just gotten over all of this...
I'm still thinking foot bath
Sketch...LOL I see what you mean. Not an attractive image at all.
I DIDN'T KNOW THEY HAD A BEAUTY SCHOOL IN AN INSTITUTION?
Ugh!! Why did I have to look!?
Peaches/AtO: I gave fair warning, it is definitely not a pretty picture. Not sure why anyone would want that picture on the front page of their website, but hey, it takes all types.
A.S.V.: It's not a beauty salon, but yes, they did have those in many institutions as well. They wanted the patients to feel normal. Please don't type in all caps, it gives me a headache.
Back in the days at the height of TB this hydrotherapy in a fashion made their condition worse of course it gave them Pneumonia on top of what they already were dealing with. They'd have them stay in ice cold water for hours or warm water. (Then of course this was at a time when people we're trying to find anything to cure TB)
when i saw this picture i got the urge to vomit. i don't know why. it reminds me of an amusment park ride.
its a escape capsule from a mech-warrior :P
They have tubs like these at a nursing home I worked at while I was going to nursing school. There were two kinds one was for muscle relaxation and the other was a walk-in-bath.
I think this device belongs in a spa! Imagine having one to get into after working hard all day and needing to relax those muscles!
Looks like a souped-up version of a sitz bath, sure could use it for my emerods.
Having tight uncomfortable muscles right now, that thing looks like heaven, especially with some nice warm water and maybe a little bath salt... Oooh Im feeling relaxed already....
my goodness sketch, they also use a "sitzbath" for hemmoriods, I think you are overestimating the word.
why would you want to be put in cold water?
Looks more like a car off of a roller coaster than a bath tub.
There are few movies in which they have used this machine in order to kill people with it.
I cannot recall the names of the films or the names of the actors or actresses that starred in these films. They would lock the intended victim into one of these contraptions and turn up the heat to the maximum capacity that it could go and let the person boil to death.

Signed: An American Soldier in Germany.
I can't find the picture you guys are talking about.
Trust me Seth, you wouldn't want to. (shudder)
I must see this picture!
I can't find the picture either. Please post a link or something.
It's true that used correctly, hydrotherapy can be a very therapeutic tool. However, in the early days and especially at this particular location, I'm not convinced they were used to give nice, warm, muscle-soothing baths. Somehow, there is pain in this picture and that object. Also, I haven't seen the infamous picture but I had an episiotomy and ya'll are right...some things should NEVER be sewn up lol
...*A-hem*...Paging Dr. Lynne!! There are FAR too many erroneous comments here to be pure sarcasm.
i thought it was a baby carrier.... what can i say? A twelve year old picks something they know about that looks the most like the object and assume thats what is. good to know it isnt a carrier. still getting over the crib *sniffle*
