thanks again motts...........really appreciate it
Now that tunnel is kind of creepy.I can imagine someone or something chasing me down it.
Yeah, this tunnel is definitely creepier than the last tunnel.
ah. i was wishing you click "next"
I love this site. I came here for the north hampton mental asylum seeing that i live near there. But i LOVE this site. It is good for a person like me that likes to look at old stuff. O and great shot by the way.
These tunnels are much creepy on a windy night, cause all u can hear is doors opening and closing and if u go to one end of the tunnels theres a door with a glass window that looks into a room where the lights are still on.
Indredible stuff.
I worked at Dever for a little over 20 yeras!
What a place! We had most of the problem behaviors in the years I worked there!
Most of the time it was total craziness! Met some good people...had some laughs....seen some things that you couldn't possibly imagine!
on some of the tunnel walls people left interesting saying like, The sun is not yellow, it's chicken, and another that said "Life cannot survive in an institution. How long they had been there could not be determined
hey just went in here yesterday and it wasn't as creepy as i though i wonder if there are anymore near taunton
Did you look around good, the place is a mess. and there is over 200 arces of land. I'm surprized that there weren't any pic's of the pool near the pond, last time I was there it had a wheelchair in it.
Iused to live in taunton and me and my friends used to go here to drink and get high. bealive it or not there is still one functioning building there. and if you ever go in any of them tunnels there about 100 degrees because they still use steam to heat a few of the buildings..
i really need to know where this is i cannot find anything about it online and i am an urban exploere
you should really reopen the institution
I'm from taunton and there is a ton of stories and rumors about this tunnel system from what i under stand they lead right to downtown i've never explored them myself but i heard some pretty creepy stories i came here hoping to get more info
The tunnels were used for the residents to get around the grounds. Especially in the winter months... Also these pictures look like they are from the buildings way in the back of Dever which where used for maintence, laundry, etc...
Aint this where they recorded the movie Session 9? I belive it is.
My bad it was the Danvers state hospital.
these tunnels are the scariest part of the whole place... ive explored all of paul dever and these tunnels are no joke... im not sayin there are ghosts but there is something and wat ever it was does not want people there i felt something strike my neck and i was thrown around it was the scariest thing ever 2 happen to me
I used to work there years ago.. i worked with 15 patients per ward.. when you started woring you had to count the patients and then check the door in the back of the ward. One night i was sitting and i then checked the door again. I found it was unlocked. i was the only one with the key for the back door, my boss and i had to go into tunnel to see if anyone was there. we didn't find anyone but we both think it was a spirit that had unlocked the door. all the patients were a sleep..
ksnow, I have to disagree with you the scariest place on that piece of land was the Hospital up the hill which Motts didn't capture.

We found a human brain in a jar with a picture of a women in the jar!

i went there yesterday and my boys tweeked out befor we even got in shit was weak, im goin back asap
These look to be still in good condition.
hey great pictures i grew up not far from there. me and my friends spent alot of time in that area. mostly causing trouble lol. those were great days thanks again for the pictures
went there a few days ago with a friend of mine. We got into one building but it was really trashed inside. The sun was going down and we didn't get to see much. I did see a few old patient charts with pictures on them, which were really neat. I also found some old boxes of magazines and clothing. It's like the place that time forgot. There was a raccoon hanging out of one of the third floor windows giving us dirty looks and that was the scariest thing that took place. Also it looks like people party/squat there. I was afraid of running into a crack head or a homeless person but I def have the itch to go back again!
I have a great idea. To everyone that made all the negative comments of abuse and neglect, look up online some local agencies that are currently still taking care of our frailest residents. Yes, they are still around, living in group homes, going to day habs daily, and hopefully enjoying as much of the community as possible. Volunteer and see what it is like to give even a couple hours a week to these special people. Yes, many of them are elderly, and they have come along way in their lives. The conditions they lived in back in the institutions was not as private and personal as their environments now, but i do know that all of their needs were met on a daily basis. I remember wonderful barbeques, dances, strawberry festivals etc on the grounds of Paul Dever School that the residents treasured. Times have changed and so have all of us. When i look back at my childhood pictures, Im surprised by what I see. I shared a bedroom with 3 sisters - something that is not common practice in these times. And i can honestly say, the decor was not even close to what it is like now! Life back then was simple. Basics - you had what you needed, whether it was at home, or in an institution. Go to a group home now, and post pictures of how they are living now. Yes, they have kept up with the times!
i was there 4 days ago for photography, and idk why the hell someone would go in there to party....??!!
thats what night clubs are for.
Perche non:)
does anyone know how to get a map of the place???
i went a few days ago with friends and we want to find the tunnels and go in all the buildings and know what they were used as...
took a trip up to this spot recently, and began making a map of the tunnels. does anyone know which building is the hospital ect. i know the dorms, and i found the commons, but the rest is still a mystery to me
