it looks strange, but beautiful
I love this shot.

However, I admit that after having taken the laundry out of laundry bags many a night at an institution (helping third shift fold laundry while doing in-service training) I would definitely NOT be waiting in an expectant manner for what comes out of the old laundry chute.

=8-o
this is just creepy.................i love it !!!
That setup looks kind of Rod Serling-esque if you ask me!
you are a genius!!! your photos stimulate the mind.
I agree, this definitely makes me think. I hope whoever had the job of watching the laundry brought along a book or something.
It's not creepy like your other chair shots...but it has a touch of humor to it which is just as cool. Sitting and waiting...great shot.
I love this shot!
I know they probably had a bag under the chute, but doesn't it look like they paid some poor schmuck to wait and catch the incoming? (Eww!!! soiled again!)
it's like you just sit and watch at the wall.
Imagine sitting there, not knowing that the chute is open, just about to doze off and then a huge load of laundry falls on you. LOL
Waiting for a face-full...lol
*Evil chuckle*
Meh heh heh, you're waiting for the laundry, when all of a sudden, when least expect it, a decapitated head comes barreling towards you!
Reminds me of somthing odd. Tumbling down the rabbit hole that was found int he strangest of places.
this my friend is masterfull
This is the place... where the missing socks go.

Nice Shot Motts.
Wowzers, that pictures is beautiful. Like its so dirty but its like its suppost to look that way, as if its normal.
for some reason this is kinda creepy
Tumbling down the rabit hole
Looks to me like the chair is smiling in anticipation
RUN CHAIR RUN!! Motts is behind you!!
interesting that chair is still there, friends of mine and I used to frequent the dever school on many occasions about 5 years ago. There used to be laundry in that shute till we pulled it out and someone decided to try and climb up in there. Not a very wise decision i might add. Thank you for this site and making remember my experiences in this very haunted, sad place
I really wouldn't mind sliding down that laundry shoot. It would rule and kick ass.
It looks like it's drooling in anticipation for someone to jump in!!!
Aw, the chair reminds me of a little kid just waiting for something cool to come out of the chute.
great pic Mr. Motts!
when my grandmother worked there they ate lunch in an old morge
[ mmm i would love that lunch break ]
and believe me you do not want to catch what was coming down this chute. especially not in the face. nasty!!!!!!!!
For some reason, when I first saw this shot, I thought of something getting sucked up the chute ala bank drive through mode. Maybe I just have some odd reverse thought process. It's an amazing shot. Looks really welcoming and comforting to me for some reason... I can't explain it.
And that's where Alice REALLY ended up on her journey to Wonderland.
mmmm. Interesting shot
Indeed, odd- yet cool andy warholish
It's almost like whomever was sitting there got fed up, opened the hatch, and simply crawled in.
They used to tie people to that chair and make them smell the dirty socks that came through the chute....

Abominable.

:P
Wonder where those chutes lead to? That would be crazy if some buffoon went to an upper floor and rode the chute down! Hopefully there would be something soft waiting for them at the bottom LOL
