Aw, geez - MARVELOUS shot!
I agree with Lynne. Wonderful shot, brilliantly dull colors with an eeiry lighting effect. And the perspective...wow. I feel like I am falling backwards when I gaze at this image. Good show Motts!
look like prison
this was a prison
why does the tunnel have windows??
&
do they connect all the buildings?
yes those tunnels connect most of the buildings, including the powerplant at the back of the campus. Nothing beats walking through em at nite, especially to the plant, which seems like it is miles away, and deeper in the ground
Yea, me and 2 of my friends went to dever one night over the summer. we went threw these underground tunnels in the pitch black w/ only 1 flashlight, only the cages and pipe insulation were all riped up and left on the ground. it was some scary fucking shit.
Dave that is crazy, I've lived around the corner from there for eva. I won't go in there during the day. I walk around the grounds but, forget the tunnels its closed for a reason.
i work for this place and i think i am the only one who has never been in . i am dying to go in.
me and my friends sneak around dever almost every weekend and kinda mess with security, its fun and we usually use the tunnels as escape routes
I worked at Dever for 5 summers and never saw these tunnels
When i went i the tunnels there was a cold draft that went through the tunnels it was mad sary and the tunnels led to the othwr buildings me believe
YES, this is one of the tunnels. yep, one of them. they connect with all the "L" shaped buildings and also a tunnel leads directly from the storeroom in the basement. during the blizzard of 78, this is the way that we had to go to the "L"-shaped buildings because there was no way that the food truck could go through all that snow. the only buildings that the tunnels did not go to was standish, tapella, the old theater, canteen, fenton building, the hospital, pineview, the old administration building (but then again, that is only a guess)
the security there are very nice and are just trying very hard to do their jobs! anyone who messes with them is just an asshole.
Yes you are correct about the tunnel system BTDTIHTTS. The tunnels excluded those buildings. Emilia, you too are also correct, the security staff there are just trying very hard to do their jobs. If you talk to them, you'll find that they are basically a decent lot and will treat you nice as long as you show some respect.
ITS CRAZY
thanks thad! at this point, the security is suspicious of everyone wanting access to the property but if you show them that you respect both them and the property, they are so nice! plus they have a lot of interesting stories about the place. please don't go in trying to cause trouble - they are VERY serious and will not hesitate to call the state police for even th most minor offense.
The grounds are open for anyone to walk, jog, or ride bikes during the day. Security is only interested in stopping vandalism, and in keeping people from getting hurt by doing stupid things. I've walked through there many times and never once been hassled. The black mold and asbestos in the buildings is no joke....mess around in there, and you will have health problems down the road.
very true, lisa! people who give security a hard time make it more difficult for the honest photographers to do there jobs. i've been through here a few times and had no problems. (the tunnels are a little creepy though lol)
These tunnels scar the crap out of me! I would hate going through those even in the day!
I hear the security is comepletely gone, and now ONLY state troopers or the local police patrol the grounds. I'm guessing this is due to all of the vandalism and junking going on inside. I have not gone inside the place since I heard this news, because I feel like the Staties would book you right away, as opposed to the cool security guys, who probably just tell you to leave and be cool about it :/
^^^malark, its legal to walk the grounds. that campus is sooooo easy
