i like how the sun is reflecting under the windows
Appropriate title, this is vast emptiness.I like it.
This shot is simply amazing. Not that i need to say it, but you are so talented and there really is something about this shot. It's amazing
I also love how you got the water tower on the right.
I was wondering if you found all of the patient records that were located near the cafeteria?? If so, I am curious to see what you thought -

love it.
First of all what floor is this room on ?

Because this room looks like it could have been a "day - room" for the Soldiers to play pool or play ping - pong or listen to the radio or read magazines or just sit and relax and smoke cigarettes. In those days they did not have smoke alarms in buildings and people did have the same attitudes abouts cigarettes as people do today concerning safety, health and fire hazards. So this "day - room" probably got real smokey. Today, in the Military building's and the Government buildings the Military Personnel along with the Civilian Personnel have to go outside to a designated smoking area to have their little smoke break.

Day rooms in the Military are usually on the first floor unless the building is several stories tall. This building has only three stories and a basement. But Military Government buildings are usually designed exactly same way on each floor, except the basement, in order to save money on design cost's so it is quite possible that there could have a "day - room" on each floor except the basement floor.

nice picture I also like the sun under the windows
It is interesting to think that the sun you see in this photo is the same sun that has shown down on well the whole world for ever and ever. I mean when this place was used as a war time building, the people who lived/worked there saw the same sun that the school children and staff saw and it is the same sun we see today. Kind of timeless, right?
It's never the same sun, never the same river, never the same electricity that lights your house up, they are things always flowing never the same witness...
Nice photo Motts....as usual....Interesting comments BlueSkyes....but I don't think of it as the same....I'd say its similar...just as today is not the same as yesterday....and tomorrow is not today.....Its fimilar but yet different?.....It can get confusing really....but well its all good too......
this was a ward of an L shaped building. there were eight beds on each side. door at end had a storage and later after laundry closed washer and dryer.
none of the dormitories, or as a matter of fact most of the buildings are original to the pow camp! they were all specially built for the school.
does anyone else notice the water tower outside the window?? lol
I went to a place called camp bluebay in 2nd grade with my girlscout troop.the room we slept in looked exactly like this. High weird windows and all. I even remekber hanging my flashlight on the window crank (although this building seems a little old for window cranks) so weird. Warehousing people.
