Bone Stretcher

Bone Stretcher

I've seen some strange things, but this one might take the cake. This contraption was hidden away in a cramped room... any takers on what it is? I would guess it had some sort of muscle or chiropractic use.

EEK! That reminds me of that sci-fi movie "Gattica."
i have no clue, and i dont think i want to know
This location is just full of strange treasures, isn't it?
They should just put that thing in the interrogation room at G'itmo. They'll all spill the beans the second the see it!
Yes Because The Lovelly People At The UN And The Geneva Convention Would'nt Be Too Happy Would They? Great Work By The Way Motts, I Want To Get Into Urban Exploration But There Is Hardly Anything In The UK Because They Knock It Down As Soon As It Doesnt Provide A Function, Which Is A Shame.
I'm still going for the textile manufacturing or repairing equipment idea. Don't know the history of this particular place, but most places made everything they could themselves to save money, to give the residents something to do that was useful, and to have a product to sell to bring in some extra money. I know of several states where the institutions still have to buy needed items manufactured by the state correctional facilities first if the cost is comparable - furniture and such.
these were used for CP patients and Polio patients, whose legs had become arthropathied by lack of use and muscle tone. This stretched the legs and spine so they would straighten out and not draw up from lack of use, i.e. going into permanent fetal position
Thank you gin, I wonder if there is a specific name for the contraption?
Traction ... I've had the modernized version of it, not quite as painful as the machine there makes it look.
I was in traction when I was 13...that was in 1981. In my mind the machine I had was just as scary! Looking at this is NOT making me happy!
hear hear Jon!
It makes me think of a trip to the gynecologist, for some reason. The gynecologist from hell, of course.
contracture contraption
Reminds me of the scene in Big Fish where he was in bed for a year ;)
Having a crappy lower back and mild scoliosis, I find being stretched by my chiro and physio relaxing and brilliant. Imagine if you were all contracted up with tight, fibrosed muscles and someone stretched your limbs out and maybe ?massaged them as well. Even if it was such a scary looking piece of equipment, I reckon it would be beautiful to stretch.
scuse me while I scream and scream and scream...(although, I have to agree with Debi G...I have some bad vertibrae, and when my back goe out, I wish someone could just stretch me back into shape.... now, back to screamingandscreamingandscreaming.
actually a couple of close guesses , I believe it to a orthopeadic" table" used for setting fractured bones, can be configured many different ways tus the high contraptionacity factor..still way cool , love to have one if ai had the space...;)
Not even Silent Hill had one of these in it!!!
Just the sight of something like this would make my bones straighten out on their own!
Imagine being mentally challenged and having to endure a "treatment"...Lord have mercy.
It's the INSNOFLEX!

Beware! Aqua Teen Hunger Force
It is actually an old fashion orthopedic surgery table with traction, good for spine surgery. It was also used in full body casting. I have seen a similar table in the present day.
lol ~me!! Carl would've loved this one too
they were used on catatonic patients to exercise their limbs and to provoke movements and test responses for pain
It's a very old traction bed.
Perfect for a torture chamber!!
Imagine having your bones being streches.OOOOOOOWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!
