Equipment

Looked like some sort of controlled environment behind this glass... the different colored valves were labeled "H W", "GAS", "VAC", "C W", can't make out the other. Perhaps hot water, gas, vacuum, cold water.... but what for exactly? A yellow smiley face sticker reminds us to wear eye protection.

We used something simlar in a lab I worked at wen condcting an experiment where we we unsure if it would explode or not. The door slides/lifts up?
Is it a fume hood? Looks like something from my old chemistry classroom.
It's a fume cupboard. When mixing chemicals that give off toxic gases, they are put behind the glass and an extractor fan is turned on, which extracts the toxic chemicals out through an exhaust in the roof. You can also use it for explosive experiments and such, too.
Yay! I was right! Paying attention in chemisty class for one day payed off, LOL.
Looks like a bong next to the sink!
Yeah but its definitely a graduated cylinder, DUH SOMEONE didnt pay attention in science, lol **cough cough ED cough cough**
I see your shadow :)
That's a chemical hood used for handling hazardous materials
I am curious about the refelction in the glass, please tell me that someone is standing there, and that it is my imagination that I see something other than this!!!!
Looks like the Chemistry Lab at my college...... We used the "air chamber" for very odorous chemicals
I had one of them in my chemistry lab back at high school.
Not in my high school there were always to cheap.
H W", "GAS", "VAC", "C W" :
Hot water probably wash or boiling, heating or just keeping things warm. Gas used to light burners. Vacume to dry glass, or help evaporation, and Cold water for washing and cooling processes.
we have one of these cuboards in school, its too old to use properly but if you want to carry out an experiment that is toxic etc or stinky you use the cupboard. it then sucks whatever out and into the air or somesort of container
OK - am I the only one reminded of Rocky Horror here?
Ayne, yeah, that is definitely a rocky horror moment. except you had every color of the rainbow being poured into that tank of water. still the best movie ever!! and i think the other one would most likely be air, making it hot water, cold water, vacuum, air, and gas.
My high school has those in all the science labs
Ah...this lab reminds of how much I love Dexter!
On the sinks in my schools bio labs, there are knobs that look exactly like that, the blue one says but there are only green blue and red. Green one says CW, cold water, red one says HW, hot water, blue one says gas
