This reminds me of a story I watched on the discovery channel about TB hospitals and how they use to put dead bodies down these tubes so the other patients wouldn't see the dead go by their rooms, Thats what that pic looks like to me very creepy !
You can almost imagine all kinds of horrible things that could come out of there.
this is where the burner barrels were incerted into the boiler of an oil fire boiler
