The Oven and the Cage

The Oven and the Cage

It was amusing, but in a twisted kind of way... "Hey kids, let's pretend you're in the cage about to get eaten by the evil witch!"

AT FIRST I THOUGHT THAT THOSE FEET WERE REAL! MOTTS YOUR LITTLE QUOTE IS FUNNY! HE HE!
Now those colors are brilliant. Eerie neon.
genius!!!
wow your photography is amazing. I will share this site with others :0) Very intersting stuff you have here. And I just love your picture taking skills.
How freaky! What kinda mind could create such a piece of work! Those feet are just creepy!
I wonder if the paint in the room is blacklight reactive and if they had one going when this place was open?
Almost exactly as I remember it.
Man, a place like this would give the kids hours upon hours of conversation in therapy sessions years later...
I remember going here when I was a kid and this was the part that scared me the most. I remember is SO vividly and this picture just brought me back. You are so right about how morbid it was to kids. I remember crying being plopped down in this cage thing. I have tons of pictures of me at this place while I was a little kid. In most of them I'm crying. haha. That place creeps me out still.
Angela~So sorry that you cried on your visit!
And yes, this IS a scary part!
It is actually through old photographs from people's visits to the EF though, that is allowing artists to recreate how these structures and its figures once looked like. It was my picture of Papa Bear from 1967, that they used to repaint Papa bear. That is why photographs then AND now is the last chance the EF has to come back to life for a new generation! Please feel free to get in contact with the farm or share your photos on

In the end , photographs and video is what will save this place from becoming extinct!
It doesn't have to die here and now. : )
I am the artist who breathed new life into The Giant on the Beanstalk! It took pics from times ago to assist me in proper fiberglass repair and retoration to bring the big guy back to life along with the leaves!I've also repaired Jack(of Jack and Jill)among a few others, and me and Monica are presently restoring the Rainbow Bridge from pics of years ago, from those who so unselfishly shared their pics with us!We are asking all of you to have a piece of recontruction history by providing us with whatever pics you can to aid us in speeding up the process of restoring the EF pieces! They are, after all, yours, and ours!
Thanks!
Jailed!...
that loods creepy
i dident even notice the feet intill people started talking about it what was the porpose of painting feet on there just to scare people??/????

ahwell its a great pic none the less
This structure is from a fairytale and nursery rhyme park. It is the gingerbread house from the story Hansel and Gretel. As the story goes, Gretel pushes the witch in the oven and saves her brother. I imagine the feet are suppose to be the witch's to follow the story line.
wow...i remember this from years ago...it wasn't so creepy then..
I WAS RIGHT! :-O
Maybe some of those fairy tales aren't really that good for out kids??? That IS kind of creepy; even for me.
why does everyone think hes being eaten, hes hiding !
its a little off subject of the picture but i am from the uk and there is a ride in blackpool pleasure beach that used to scare the shit out of me as a child its called noahs ark anyone know it?
I remember the Noah's Ark, it was very dark inside & at one point if you stood on the wrong bit of the floor some cow's leg's would shoot out & nearly kick you!

I was last there in 2002, I didn't go in but it seemed to be as I remember it from the outside.
That's kind of weird!!!!
They didn't HAVE to push that poor old Witch into the fire, the little ingrates. :-D
LMAO

If you got your kids to do that know CPS would be called on you LOL
LOL!! Yeah, no kidding Christa.
This is amazing. I've told all my friends about this site, and they love it too! Keep up the awesome pics!!
I'm breaking The Book out for this one - it's an in- Sanctuary! Sanctuary! Sanctuary! <.< >.> o.o
Someone mentioned that some fairytales weren't really meant for children. If you read the original Grimm's. most of the tales are quite dark and much scarier than their modern day versions.
I agree.
its like somthing from the brothers grimm
thats the weirdest pic i saw
its look like a two feet in oven n theres a cage now that is weird
i think motts proves a good point with the cage thing. why would think kids would be creeped out by the cage and '' oh lets pretend your about to die by being eaten by a witch. no it will be fun" idea. its kinda messed up. and the legs in the chimney dont help.
ok, wrong house, but there is a house just like it somewhere else in the park that is the gingerbread man's house...
LOL. Twisted indeed. Nice shot though.
This is pretty bizarre; kinds makes you wonder about fairy tales sometimes...lol.. I like those little feet going up the chimney. :)
